From 2009: Mark Chiarello broke new ground in July with the launch of a 12-issue series called "Wednesday Comics," a 16-page weekly that unfolds to a 28-inch by 20-inch tabloid featuring the individual adventures of Batman, Adam Strange, Metamorpho, The Demon and Catwoman, Kamandi, Superman and many more. I always take great pride in hosting old friends on Mr. Media, and today is definitely one of those days.

From 2011: Buddy Scalera knows the business from having been on the inside – he co-wrote Deadpool at Marvel with his friend Jimmy Palmiotti and created and published his own title, 7 Days to Fame, for After Hours Press. More recently, Scalera started a website devoted to teaching his favorite subject, ComicBookSchool.com. He joins me today to talk about his new book, "Creating Comics from Start to Finish."

“Can a dinner change history?” That’s the opening line of author Deborah Davis’s amazing new book, Guest of Honor: Booker T. Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, and the White House Dinner That Shocked a Nation. At its essence, Guest of Honor is about Booker T. Washington becoming, in 1901, the first African American to be a dinner guest of a sitting president in the White House. That simple meal between old friends set off a raging controversy.

From 2012: Here’s something not everyone interviewing Olympic ice skater Sasha Cohen can say: She’s quoted on the front cover of my new book. It’s true: When Mind Over Business hits book shelves on March 6, there is a quote above the title from Sasha, who worked with my co-author Ken Baum in preparing for her legendary appearance and subsequent Silver Medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

From 2009: Katie McGrath plays Lady Morgana in the new NBC dramatic import, “Merlin.” Katie is a relative newcomer to acting, as I understand it, although American audiences may have seen her in an episode of Showtime’s popular drama, “The Tudors,” before she landed a plum role on “Merlin.” Did I say plum? That’s not quite accurate, because she’s more of a peach! Uh, did I just say that out loud? Sometimes I embarrass myself.

From 2007: Producer Jeremy Mitchell and actor Sheaun McKinney ("Snowfall") were my guests on the very first episode of Mr. Media Radio broadcast late in 2007 on the BlogTalkRadio Network. They were promoting a new Miami-based independent feature film called Nemesis that tells the story of an idealistic young rap star fighting for his own voice against the corrupting influence of the hip-hop industry. A record label discovers him, and he is forced to promote violence and materialism in exchange for fame.

From 2011: Actor Sasha Roiz made the rounds of several TV genre favorites on his way to the role of Captain Renard on the new NBC drama series “Grimm,” which airs Fridays at 9 p.m. He played Marcus Diamond in the latest season of Syfy’s delightful “Warehouse 13.” He was also Sam Adama in Syfy’s “Battlestar Galactica” spinoff, “Caprica.” And he did guest star roles in “Castle” and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

From 2011: Bad news for former “Ugly Betty” actor Christopher Gorham -- Buddy TV just named Niall Matter “the hunkiest nerd in the history of TV.” That’s right: the man who plays Deputy Sheriff Jo’s love interest, Zane Donovan, on the Syfy hit “Eureka,” is officially hot.
