On this month's Culture Chat Podcast, Izzie and Cecil speak with Jade Doswell, Coordinator of the UDiversity Educational Institute with the Division of DEI, about one of her passions: hip hop. Jade, Izzie and Cecil talk about the origins of hip hop and particularly about the pivotal role that Black women have played in the genre and culture at large.

On our second ever episode, Cecil and Izzie speak with Ethan Tyo, founder of the AlterNative Project in Syracuse, NY. Together, the three of them discuss the importance of highlighting Native American Heritage, and how food can be a key way to spread awareness and education.

Ethan Tyo, Akwesasne Mohawk, Wolf clan is a foodie, a gardener, and an advocate for creating space for Indigenous knowledge and experiences in higher education. Using traditional Haudenosaunee food culture as a mechanism for institutional change, Ethan works across K-12, higher education, and museums to inspire and empower the next generations of Indigenous scholars.

Our first episode! This episode Cecil and Izzie will be speaking to Dr. Melvin Whitehead, assistant Professor in the Student Affairs Administration Department for the College of Community and Public Affairs about LGBTQ+ History, his experiences with it and his work overall as a researcher.
