What star are you following? 🌟
Horoscopes, influencers, success, comfort—or Jesus?
In this Epiphany message from Matthew 2, we follow the Magi and confront a timeless question: Who—or what—is truly guiding your life? Discover why the star wasn’t the focus, why Jerusalem was disturbed, and why only Christ leads to real hope, forgiveness, and peace.
In this Advent message, Heroes to Zeroes explores the rise and fall of King Asa, a man who began his reign full of courage and faith—tearing down idols and leading Judah back to God—but later slipped into pride and self-reliance. Through Asa’s story, we see how easy it is to start strong and drift from grace, how pride quietly edges out trust, and how God still reaches out with patience and mercy.
This episode closes with the greatest reversal of all—Jesus, the humble King who bore our sin and rose victorious so that forgiveness and new life could be ours.
Theme: From pride to humility, from failure to grace.
Scripture focus: 2 Chronicles 14–16
A Christmas-season sermon on King Joash: the fight for “peace on earth,” god’s promise preserved, and the true peace found in Jesus’ forgiveness—calling us back to daily repentance and life in our Baptism.
Feel more like a cracked ornament than a Christmas hero? Meet Rahab—a prostitute from Jericho who ended up in Jesus’ family tree. See how God turns zeros into heroes and why your story isn’t over yet.

Ever feel weighed down by the family you came from—or by things in your past you wish you could take back?
This week’s Advent message looks at one of the lesser-known names in Jesus’ family tree: Perez. His story includes Judah, Tamar, dysfunction, deception, and deep regret… and yet Perez is intentionally named in the genealogy of Jesus. That’s not an accident; it’s grace.
We’ll talk about:
Why the circumstances of your birth don’t lock in your eternal future
How God can bring beauty out of the messes we make
How Judah’s change of heart points us ahead to Jesus, who steps into the breach for us and says, “Let them go free—take me instead.”
If you come from a broken or dysfunctional family, or if there are things in your past that still make your stomach drop when you remember them, this message is for you. Jesus came from a messy family to save messy people—and he comes to you not as your judge, but as your Savior.
In this Thanksgiving message on Luke 17:11–19, we meet ten men with leprosy who stand at a distance and cry out, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” Their story becomes a mirror of our own spiritual condition and a powerful reminder of all we have in Christ.
We explore four reasons to say, “Thank You, Jesus”:
for your mercy that seeks us out,
for your might that heals and saves,
for the faith you create through your word,
and even for our maladies, which drive us back to you and open doors to witness.
Listen in and be encouraged to let your gratitude to Jesus be louder than your grumbling—not just at Thanksgiving, but every day.
Pastor Dan's sermon calls us to “hold on” to God’s trustworthy Word and “head out” with its message. Jesus delays judgment so more people can repent. While the world keeps sinning, believers keep serving. Because Christ brings his reward, we cherish Scripture, remain faithful, and share the gospel urgently before he returns.
Jesus provides clear assurance that we can be certain of eternal life, even when faced with skepticism like that of the Sadducees. These religious leaders challenged Jesus about resurrection, but their doubt stemmed from limiting God's power to what they could physically see. Jesus pointed to Scripture, specifically God's present-tense declaration to Moses about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, proving that the faithful continue to exist after death. Worthiness for eternal life isn't based on our performance but on being washed clean by Jesus' blood. In heaven, we'll experience perfect relationships with everyone, no more death, and be permanent residents as God's children.
God promises believers a new heaven and new earth where all pain, sorrow, and death will be eliminated forever. This isn't a cloudy afterlife but a real, physical world where we'll have meaningful work, perfect relationships, and complete harmony with others. Unlike our current world filled with suffering and frustration, this new creation will offer purposeful activities without any wasted effort or conflict. Jesus has already secured this future through his sacrifice on the cross, making this promise absolutely certain for all who trust in him.
This message invites you to wake up—to the truth about your sin and the even greater truth about your Savior. Like Neo in The Matrix, we’re offered a choice: stay trapped in comforting illusion or see reality through Jesus’ eyes. From John 8, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Discover real freedom—not in doing whatever feels right, but in being anchored to God’s Word and released by his grace. Recorded at Mt. Calvary Lutheran, Flagstaff, AZ.
