Don't just take our word for it . . . take His! We would encourage you to spend time examining the following Scriptures that shaped this sermon: Psalm 137, Jer 29:1-7.
Imagine being forcibly removed from your home, your country, your culture. You are then exiled to live in a foreign land. How would you move forward? How would you carry on? This is the situation of God's people who were sent into exile in Babylon, under King Nebuchadnezzar. They are distraught. They are angry. They are grieving. And yet God has a plan... He does not want his people to simply waste away in this foreign land, but to be a blessing to their neighbors. A blessing?! To those who hate us? Who captured us? Who killed our family members? Surely not, God! But this is God's heart – for his people to seek the welfare of the place where they are living.
