MTG Grindcast

CCR's coming off of a top 16 and top 32 in this weekend's standard challenges, and we're both prepping for our standard RCQ season that starts this week! Is domain dead--or just dead on magic online? Can this Bant deck featuring unplayable creatures and worse mana really be good? All that and more!

We're back and ready to talk about standard! RCQ season is finally here and we've got, uh, two RCQs to prepare for locally. Maybe it wasn't worth ordering five hundred dollars' worth of standard cards?

Hey everyone! We traditionally take off for Christmas week, but CCR sat down with Stan of the Dive Down and Oaf McNamara to talk Phoenix at the close of Pioneer season. We figured we'd drop the episode into our feed as well in case you're jonesing, but make sure to check out their other episodes--the Dive Down does great deck dives and often has on awesome guests like D00mwake and Aspiringspke.

See you in the new year!

Pioneer season is finally over! And although CCR couldn't quite close out RC Atlanta after a decent start, Mark took Phoenix all the way to the finals. We talk through prep, the tournament, and the Pioneer format with him in an extra large episode!

In the wake of major Pioneer and Modern shakeups we're taking a look at how things are shaping up, especially with a new Splinter Twin-esque combo making big waves just before the RC!

Huge ban update in Modern and Pioneer! We saw some of these coming (because they...told us) but it's time to talk through the implications. Will the Fury ban free creature decks in Modern? Is Smuggler's Copter good enough for Pioneer? Let's find out!

Fresh, hot takes following the ban announcement announcement! Appraiser: gonna get banned. Karn: gonna get banned. But, like, not now. In a week. Probably. Strike through all the show notes that CCR created comparing different discover builds and sleeve up your lotus field deck because it's time for chaos at the RC baby!

While Pioneer is on fire we took a little break to talk through the modern banlist. Our opinion: banning Grief isn't gonna work. The whole thing could use a once-over, and a lot of cards could come off the list. Are we totally off-base or did we just fix the format? Come yell at us in Discord!
