MTG In Quarantine episodes

  • How to Build Your First Commander Deck (and an Intro to EDH/Commander)

Interested in starting in Commander/EDH but don't know where to start? This episode introduces the format, its origins, and how it differs from 1v1 competitive formats. I then walk through the process of understanding different card functions within a deck and explaining how each one is important. Lastly, I have an example of the first Legendary Creature that I ever built around and explain how there are different ways to build around that card.

And always remember that EDH is a SOCIAL FORMAT, and the #1 goal is to HAVE FUN!

You can find me on Twitter at @MTGInQuarantine. I have a podcast where I discuss all things EDH, and you can find those on Google, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify, among other podcast outlets. You can find more information HERE.

  • Stax or No Stax: The Basics of Stax in cEDH (feat. Adam from Casually Competitive)

Stax is a very misunderstood strategy in the EDH landscape, and is often cited as one of the least-favorite archetypes to play against at the majority of tables. However, Stax is a very viable strategy at the cEDH table through its disruption of opponents and furthering of your own gameplan. Noted Stax player and member of Casually Competitive Adam joins the show to discuss his 3 main pillars of Stax, followed by a fun gameshow-style segment called "Stax or No Stax" and then some advice for new players interested in trying out Stax for themselves.

You can find Casually Competitive's gameplay videos on YouTube and on Twitter.

  • How to Brew Outside the cEDH Meta (feat. Mab the Queen)

While the cEDH meta may seem fairly imposing and impregnable to newer players, there is plenty of room to carve out a niche using Commanders and brews outside the established hierarchy. The amazing Mab the Queen joins the podcast to discuss how to recognize the current state of the meta, how to deal with and counteract the meta, and what to keep in mind when finding a niche deck to pilot.

  • "Colorless" Najeela, the Blade Blossom Deck Tech

My colorless Najeela deck has received a lot of attention recently, so that means it's the perfect time to do a quick overview of the history of the deck, the composition of the deck, and why I enjoy playing and talking about it. You can find the full decklist on my Moxfield profile HERE.

  • The Flexibility and Utility of Having a Range of Decks in Your EDH Collection (feat. Gemstone Mine)

Having a wide variety of EDH decks to accommodate any level of play is a good thing! Jon from the Gemstone Mine podcast joins the show to discuss how intent defines what is traditionally called "power level" instead of the inclusion/exclusion of certain cards. We then fill a hypothetical Quiver-brand card case for an MTG game night with a range of decks from our personal collections that go from pre-con level all the way to cEDH.
