MTG In Quarantine

A P.S.A. from MJ at MTG In Quarantine to vote in the 2020 election if you have not yet done so.  Every vote counts!

With Commander Legends coming out soon, I discuss what I enjoy most about reprints and reprint-heavy sets.

My thoughts on the upcoming Commander Legends set.

A lot of Magic Social Media has gone ballistic over the reveal of the new "The Walking Dead" Secret Lair cards, which for a variety of reasons can cause concern to players across multiple formats.  While I am not going to disagree with the issues that have cropped up over morality of character decisions, issues with Magic's ongoing story (with crossovers with TWD) or the direct-to-players card sales from Wizards, I do not believe that Secret Lairs or unique mechanics on Secret Lair cards break tradition with other major IPs that do similar things to boost sales.  I also don't believe that we should discourage people from buying these cards based on this issue - if people want to buy these cards, then they should be able to play with them.

An episode where I discuss what I enjoy about variance in Commander/EDH and how building unique decks keeps me playing this great game.

Ever wanted to have one of your MTG-related questions answered by a content creator? Now's your chance! I want to hear from you, the listeners, regarding your questions about upcoming sets, my personal EDH/Commander decks, my opinions on topics that I have already discussed, or any other MTG topic (within reason, of course - I'm not Mark Rosewater!). Send your MTG-related questions (no off-topic questions or spam, please!) to: [email protected].  Thanks! I aim to answer listener questions in a future episode.

With the release of the new Zendikar Rising set, many EDH players are left wondering if Mass Land Destruction needs to be a new staple in their decks to hose Lands Matters decks.  I lay out my reasoning for why this is an overreaction since no one deck dominates the format and because MLD is frowned upon for a reason in most play groups since it sets everyone back, not just those abusing their lands triggers.

My brief thoughts on the new Zendikar Rising set.

My thoughts regarding calls from the MTG Community for Wizards of the Coast to remove the Reserved List of cards.
