Fun, Twisting & Turning Read

Muddy Waters blends classic whodunnit and fantasy with quick pace. The protagonist Tessa is sharp and funny. She is an easy character to get behind and root for! And she is a witch who drinks bourbon to boot! The blending of the worlds between Louisville and Otherwhere make for lucious, contrasting settings. The story zigs and zags and keeps me engaged. Fun!

Mix 3 parts Bourbon, 2 parts Joss Whedon, 1 part each Phillip Pullman and Patrick Rothfuss, and a sprinkle of The X-Files.

Otherwhere is a quick, fun read. The author sets up this amazing alternate universe but smoothly weaves it into real life now. Our guide through this world is Tessa, the protagonist--and I love her. I laughed out loud at some of her (internal and external) dialogue. I also enjoyed finding hints of the works of Joss Whedon, Phillip Pullman, and Patrick Rothfuss, plus a little Mulder and Scully. Sara Thompson is in good company.

Witches are where it's at!

Very fun read! I love the quick witted female protagonist Tessa, and I can't wait to read more about her adventures. I really like that the story is set in the real world suddenly grappling with magic and "otherness" and all the uncomfortableness that arises when we are confronted with something we don't understand.

I'm ready for more in this magical new world.

Don't miss this one!!

This book just sucks you in and won't let go. Entertaining with a smart, sassy protagonist. Really stands out as a must read in the urban fantasy genre. Move over Harry Dresden, Tess is coming through!

Must read! Mystery and action is always good, add in tyres characters, and it's amazing!!

Book keeps you wanting more and it's hard to put down. Her description of the characters bring them to life. Can't wait for the next book!!
