This video deals with how I decided to finally leave Jacksonville and go to Atlanta. This was the biggest change to ever take place in my life. It reminds me of what Ibn Al-Wardi mentioned in his poem:
حُبّكَ الأوطانَ عجـزٌ ظاهرٌ * * * فـاغتربْ تلقَ عن الأهلِ بَدَلْ
فبمُكثِ الماءِ يـبقى آسنـاً * * * وسَـرى البدرِ بهِ البدرُ اكتملْ
Your love for your country is clear weakness on your part *** Emigrate and you will find a
better replacement for the family you left behind
When water sits it becomes putrid *** And with the nightly movement and progression of the new moon it becomes a full moon with that movement.
This advice given by Ibn Al-Wardi to his son is the best of advice. If we sit in the same place with no benefit, we will just rot. However, if we move through the earth seeking what Allah has written for us, we become more complete. That move to Atlanta was the move that started that progression from a new moon to a full moon. Alhamdulillah.
