About today's guest: It all started at age 7, when she refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance because she didn't see "liberty and justice for all," especially those who looked like her, her family, and her community. Earning degrees in History and Psychology, a Master's degree in Education and teaching for nearly 20 years were all foundational to the mission and vision of ASCRIBE Educational Consulting, LLC and EDIFY Humanity 501c3.
From age 7 to now, at the center of Sonia's motivation is humanity and belonging. She is on a mission to rectify the harm and oppressions of racism....and is unflinching in asking the tough questions, facing uncomfortable truths, and building on equity driven outcomes. Acknowledging that we all have perpetuated norms based on conditionings from a white supremacy lens has divided our collective ability to stand in solidarity and has fostered an oppression Olympics mentality.
In building a future that is anti-racist, humanity must matter, and equity needs to be at the center of the equation. There is no better time than the present to fight for those most marginalized and disenfranchised by a system with the intend to deny access to wealth, life, liberty, and justice. Get ready for a conversation with Sonia Lewis, a mother, wife, influencer, entrepreneur, and all around unapologetic yet authentic Black magical force to be reckoned with....brace yourself for a true heart to heart for change.

ABOUT OUR GUEST: My name is Darius Lavale aka The Icon Kidd and my journey has been one of strength and survival, dealing with low self-esteem, acceptance, bullying, abandonment, depression, addiction, and validation. I was born and raised overseas (military brat) and at the age of 12, after my mother and stepfather divorced, we relocated to Augusta Georgia. I am the oldest of three children, but I’ve always considered myself the black sheep.
From the abandonment of a father, that I am just now getting to know at the age of 40, the lack of acceptance from my peers as a child, being teased by the other black kids because my skin color was lighter and a mental health disorder that wasn’t fully diagnosed until the age of 19. In my late teens, early 20s and on and off in my 30’s I struggled with self-medicating in order to cope and deal with life while searching for validation in others and learning to love myself.
Like many other young adults searching for themselves I dove into a world of adult entertainment and escorting as a way of finding validation and acceptance but also in a way to protect my heart from being broken and abandoned. Dealing with bipolar and borderline personality disorder, my life seemed so hard and led me to make a lot of poor decisions which resulted in rape, domestic violence, and promiscuous sex.
Now at the age of 40 thanks to self-love, I have gone back to school and changed my whole way of living and thinking.. My purpose is to help those who struggle with loving themselves as well as helping the underdog realize their self-worth and importance. Addiction is something that I yet battle along with depression, but life has gotten better and I am starting to experience a turnaround. Discovering myself at the age of 39 and finding a new way of living that coincides with my evolution as a human being and spirit has been a challenge yet rewarding.

WEDNESDAYS IN THE NOW (W.I.N.)
Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!ABOUT THE BONUS EPISODE: February's transformative topic at "the TRANS4MATION centre" was "Framework!"
In baseball, there is a term called "framing." Framing is a "subtle" movement of the wrist that drags the ball toward the strike zone. Catchers who become experts at this learn to give the "illusion" that a ball is actually a strike.
One of the definitions of framework is "a set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality."
In tonight's session we address those illusions and assumptions that have influenced the construction of our framework.
ABOUT THE BONUS EPISODE: February's transformative topic at "the TRANS4MATION centre" was "Framework!"
As we conclude our conversation about framework. Clifton takes an interesting approach with addressing the subject of frameworks that no longer serve nor fit our identity and purpose.
