I’m talking up a tune today about Teena Marie. Ooh La La La was released in 1988.

Hello I’m Gail Nobles, and you’re listening to Multi-Tunes. Tunes that talk, and today’s topic is Teena Marie, Ooh La La La. The single became Teena Marie’s biggest hit on the R&B chart. It peaked at number one on the Billboard R&B chart, and Marie's only number-one single on that chart. It peaked at number 85 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The words Ooh La La La sounds like a woman singing in love. Teena Marie had a great voice singing those words. Her nickname was Lady T given to her by her collaborator and friend, Rick James.

She was known for her distinctive soprano vocals, which caused many listeners to believe she was black. Her success in R&B and soul music, and loyalty to these genres would earn her the title Ivory Queen of Soul. She played rhythm guitar, keyboards, and congas. Teena Marie was a three-time Grammy Award nominee. She left this world at age 54. Teena and her music will always be remembered.

What do you think of when you think of music of the 60s? There were artists like Jefferson Airplane 🎶 Don’t you want somebody to love? Don’t you need somebody to love 🎶.

There were artists like the Mamas and the Papas 🎶 California Dreamin’ on such a winter’s day 🎶.

And there was Sly Stone & The Family 🎶 Dance To The Music 🎶.

When you talk about the 60s, you’re talking about peace songs & psychedelic songs & love songs. You’re talking about music that has been with you most of your life, and the music is still being heard today. I wasn’t around in the 60s, and even I enjoy some of the music.

I remember when I was little & some of the songs were advertised on television. It was hard to get the tunes out of your head once you heard them. The music of the 60s is music that is unforgettable.

In the 60s, you might remember the hippies and the long hair and the bell - bottoms. You might remember a culture & social change from those days and most of all the music.

I’m Gail Nobles & you’re listening to Multi-Tunes. Tunes that talk.

Dialogue: How about it for Heatwave. (Handclaps) Groove Line written by Rod Temperton 1978.

It would be so nice to have a Groove line right now because sometimes the world just gets so boring. It would be so nice to go to a place where all you need is dancing feet. You can leave all your worries behind like Heatwave with the Groove Line.

    Singers: Groove Line

A place where you know the wheels are turning. Where you know you got the boiler burning.

    Singers: Groove Line

Groove line. A tune that talks. Makes you want to walk that walk. It’s a song that makes you want to have a good time.

    Song: Talk It Over
    Song by: Grayson Hugh

    Podcast vocals: Gail Nobles
    Keyboardist: Gail Nobles

Grayson Hugh sang about love walking out the door and how two lovers can break up. Instead of leaving, sometimes it’s good to talk it over. Because sometimes we say things we really don’t mean.

If you have a relationship with someone, don’t let nothing come between the two of you. Your friends might envy you & try to break you up. But don’t let it happen. Don’t let them bring you down.

Never give up on each other. Stay & don’t walk out the door. They’ll be disagreements, but try to work it out. First try to talk it over.

So if you’re having a hard time in you’re relationship, don’t forget to talk it over. I’m Gail Nobles & you’re listening to Multi-Tunes. Tunes that talk. Tune in again for more next time. I hope in your relationship everything will work out fine.

Jealousy, it can cause a lot of confusion. It can cause hate. It can cause murder. It can get really bad. One thing can lead to another. Jealousy can cause a lot of anger. It’s not good for the heart, and it’s not good for the soul. It can lead to all kinds of sin. The good book said “Thou Shall Not Covet”. We are not to desire what other people have. Jealousy is nothing but destruction. It can destroy you and everyone else. It can destroy everything.
