  • being honored as a teaching artist by a former student
There’s something powerful about coming full circle.

In this episode, MS rŌbi K reconnects with a former student—now 25 years old—who first found her voice at age 12 while learning to sing “Tomorrow” from the beloved musical Annie. What begins as a simple check-in becomes something much deeper: a reflection on growth, memory, and the quiet impact of mentorship.

Through this heartfelt conversation, you’ll hear what it means to truly listen—with grace, humility, and presence. As her former student shares pieces of her journey, Robbi holds space in a way that reminds us: sometimes the most meaningful teaching happens long after the lesson ends.

This episode is about reconnection—not just with others, but with the parts of ourselves shaped by music, guidance, and time.

  • S5 EP 2 Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther Kings Jr.
Season 5, Episode 2 is a birthday offering for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—part tribute, part truth-telling, part “how do we keep going when the world is loud?”

This episode is built around two musical bookends that carry very different kinds of power:

Nina Simone’s song written in the aftermath of Dr. King’s assassination—often known as “Why? (The King of Love Is Dead)”—isn’t a “remember when” moment. It’s a live-wire lament. Nina doesn’t soften grief into something comfortable; she gives us the shock, the sorrow, and the moral urgency that follows when a prophet is taken out of the world. Her music holds the ache and the accountability at the same time, and it invites us to ask the question that matters: what do we do with our lives now that we know what courage costs?

Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” is a different kind of weapon—joy as strategy. Stevie wrote it as part of the movement to make Dr. King’s birthday a U.S. national holiday, turning celebration into pressure, and melody into a public demand for recognition. Where Nina’s song mourns, Stevie’s insists. It’s a reminder that honoring Dr. King isn’t only about memory—it’s about action, visibility, and collective will.

Between these two songs, I reflect on Dr. King’s life through a spiritual lens, including the Bahá’í teaching that humanity is one people—not as a cute slogan, but as a blueprint for justice. I also share why Dr. King’s way of living—his insistence on dignity, his commitment to nonviolence, and his refusal to dehumanize anyone—feels aligned with Bahá’í principles, even if he wasn’t formally part of the Faith. When you listen closely, his life sounds like unity with a backbone.

If you’ve ever needed a reminder that love can be disciplined, that unity can be fierce, and that music can carry a movement, this episode is for you.

I apparently posted podcasts that never posted so I'm posting them today before the year is over… 2026 will be a new podcast talking about multiple sclerosis, my books that I am publishing, the new music that I'm making, the old music I'm reinventing, my history that I'm reclaiming, the honoring of my ancestors who survived the trail of tears and death, my granddaughters, my beautiful daughters who aren't mothers yet, and all the people that have been in my life helping me move forward and cope with multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis stopped my career instantly even though it took years for me to realize. So now I'm podcasting, videotaping and posting to encourage people to look forward to tomorrow because we have been promised deliverance. Count on it don't doubt it. Thank you for following my channel and becoming a subscriber so that I can let you know when I'm posting something new! It's always a big deal for me when I do something new because every day seems to be the same… Dealing with multiple sclerosis and all of its friends… Pesky vermin :-) thank you again I love you too… I have lots of love to share and give to the right directions that are positive with energy of light :-) stay well till we catch up to each other again…nesika https://youtu.be/E13_8gMq4fY?si=LC2jt5m56mPbo2sF
