This week we center on Mary and Martha, two people who just …. Needed… Rest.  This story, like all others in the beautiful poetry that is the Word reminds us that the hyperlinks and parallels throughout the Bible tell us that God yearns to provide us rest and assurance of calm and safety.  Whether in a boat, amongst the wilderness, or in a house.  It also reminds us that we; the son of man, wants to push each other out into the fray at every chance that we have, denying ourselves the rest and assurance that God promises us.  I pray that you find rest when you need it.

This week, Pastor Russ, shares how the expert in the law got the question all wrong in Luke's Gospel and Jesus' telling of the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Lk 10:25-37). The question was not, "Who is my neighbor?" as the lawyer asked, but should have been "How can I be a good neighbor?"

In this episode, Pastor Russ, talks about how "labeling" diminishes who we are and how others perceive us. In Luke's story of the woman with the alabaster jar (7:36-50) God in the person of Jesus the Christ erases all labels and simply sees us as forgiven and freed.

In today's message Pastor Russ talks about how sometimes in life, because of our circumstances, it is easier to hide behind a curtain, or put on a mask pretending to be someone we are not. However, the apostle Paul, in the 5th Chapter of his letter to the Romans, encourages us to live into the heart, courage, and mind of Christ as gifted by the Holy Spirit and be everything God intends for us to be. In doing so, we will find there is no better place than home.
