  • Bobby Unser Interview and 1969 Ford Torino Pikes Peak Winner: Muscle Car Of The Week Episode #200
BONUS PODCAST and PHOTOS: http://www.musclecaroftheweek.com/unser Welcome to the 200th episode of Muscle Car Of The Week! For this special presentation, we’re sharing an exclusive interview with 3-time Indy 500 winner Bobby Unser recorded at the 2016 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago featuring the amazing 1969 Ford Torino Pike’s Peak racer he drove to victory in 1969. The legendary cast of characters in the story includes Bunkie Knudsen, Smokey Yunick, Bill Stroppe, Holman & Moody, and many others, and Unser tells the fascinating story as if it happened yesterday. The car is a purpose-built stock car built by Bill Stroppe and Holman & Moody and is powered by a Smokey Yunick built Boss 429. Unser had not seen the car since ‘69, but he was surprised to learn that the car remains in as-raced condition today. He went on to share many stories of racing in general, and how to be a winner not only on the track but also in life, and a great recollection of a huge party after a winning snowmobile racing season! The display was a huge hit at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, and the car is a very special piece of racing history in the Brothers Collection. Enjoy the show, and thanks for watching Muscle Car Of The Week! http://www.musclecaroftheweek.com http://www.facebook.com/musclecaroftheweek

  • 1962 Chevrolet Z11 at Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals - Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode #198
The early 1960s saw American automakers building some very special and very limited editions of production models that appeared to be stock, but were hiding some tricks to make them race-ready. This 1962 Chevrolet Impala Z11 is just such a car. A factory-built lightweight racer, this car features a high-performance 409 engine and aluminum body panels to reduce weight. The restoration was debuted by Jim Matteson at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago. • Day 2 Cars at Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals - Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode #197
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is a celebration of stock and original cars, but nobody can deny that the vast majority of Muscle Cars were modified by their owners to go faster or look unique. Dan Vasic reached out to owners of “Day 2” cars, which are cars modified basically when they were new… hence the term “Day 2”. These cars have period correct parts and modifications, and are a cool look back at the performance parts of the day.
