In this episode of Music at a Rational Volume, Nate and Kyle celebrate one of their favorite albums and its 25th anniversary, the Barenaked Ladies album Maroon. Released in September of 2000, Maroon stands as a truly great record, certainly a worthy follow up to the era-defining brilliance of Stunt which turned BNL into stars in the U.S. So listen in as the hosts chat about all the good stuff on this underrated and perpetually overlooked record (even though it went platinum in the U.S. and Canada), it shoulda been HUGE. In our opinion then, it certainly is one of the greatest albums ever made by humans on the planet Earth!

In this episode of Music at a Rational Volume, Nate and Kyle discuss the newest 52 year old record to be released this year, the legendary album by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks called Buckingham Nicks. Before they found fame and success as part of Fleetwood Mac, this duo made a surprisingly accessible and well-produced record, that would sadly be lost to time and buried by slow sales and future stardom. After years of being one of those mythical albums that music snobs and snobbier collectors used to polish their egos and lord over the rest of the masses, the wait for a full re-release is over and we are here to talk all about it.

In this episode of Music at a Rational Volume, Nate and Kyle discuss the latest effort from Buffalo New York's favorite rock and rolling sons the Goo Goo Dolls, called Summer Anthem. An EP that we were looking forward to was just released and we took some time to record our thoughts. So listen along as we break down the things we liked and those that we didn't like at all. Our albums of the week were: Iggy Pop - Every Loser and Ione - From Here EP

In this episode of Music at a Rational Volume, Nate and Kyle regale everyone with the further misadventures of the two-middle-aged-men-a-concert-going show. In this installment the hosts try and figure out why this show as different from their last show at the same venue, the problem with "concert series" in general, and what's wrong with the Merch? So listen a long as they try to navigate the world of live music while also being whiny, job having middle aged babies.

Welcome to Nate and Kyle disagree about music, just kidding, it's Music at a Rational Volume. In this episode, we ask you to consider one of the best soundtracks ever made/produced by humans on the planet Earth (or is it?), The Music From Scrubs, released in 2002, this soundtrack covers the first season+ of the show and is, at least in one host's opinion, one of the best mix-tapes ever assembled. So tune in to what the hosts have to say and decide for yourself after giving it a listen on your own.
This week's playlist... You know, the tunes from Scrubs playlist that I mentioned earlier...

In this first of its kind (for us) episode of Music at a Rational Volume Nate and Kyle discuss an actual live concert they attended. Listen along as the hosts discuss the venue, the merch, the food, and of course the music from the latest iteration of the now annual Last Summer on Earth concert series headlined by the Barenaked Ladies. This time around being supported by bands Guster and Fastball. A good time was had by all, stop in and hear what Nate and Kyle thought about the show.

In this episode Nate and Kyle try a little something new and make a playlist from a long past chart, in this case the Rock Albums Chart from March 20, 1982. A chart that is lousy with 80s greats and no longer relevant has-beens is a perfect place for the hosts to dabble in album tracks and deep dives. The associated playlist is a mix of lesser known hits and unknown album tracks. So listen and enjoy the best playlist ever created based on the rock albums chart of this particular week in 1982. Not since Uncle Rico has someone been so excited to relive that year, Nate and Kyle made a soundtrack for it. They shoulda made State... Enjoy!

In this episode of Music at a Rational Volume, Nate and Kyle do their best to put a little more love (of music) back into the world of music commentary. The album titled We Need Medicine by the band The Fratellis is one of the few records that both Nate and Kyle absolutely love and at long last they have chosen it to be crowned as one of their GAEMBHOPE, that is, Greatest Albums Ever Made By Humans On Planet Earth. It's great, no spoilers about this one. Go out and get yourself a copy... own it, love it, play the crap out of it... You won't be sorry. Also be even less sorry and check out the music video for Seven Nights Seven Days, it's magic.
