Because music goes straight to the spirit,
what we listen to can shape our emotions,
our thoughts, even the atmosphere of our day.
This morning I was listening to a song that awakened bittersweet memories, making me cry.
In that moment, I realized I had a choice:
I could stay there, lingering in what the melody was stirring.
I could stop the player and abruptly shift into salsa or rock.
I could drown the feeling in a higher beat.
Or… I could pause.
And that’s what I did.
I sensed I needed to honor the moment, to allow the grief the music was gently recommending (yes, recommending) to surface.
Not to live there, but to acknowledge it. To sit with it for a little while.
And then, when it had said what it needed to say, I transitioned.
That made me wonder:
What music do I want to play today, not just for a moment, but for my whole day?
What soundtrack will accompany my purpose?
What rhythm will carry my spirit forward?
Because whether it’s a mellow melody or a hard rock anthem, we are always choosing the music that frames our inner world.
So today I ask you:
What music are you playing?
Is it helping you become who you are called to be?
Is it aligning with your purpose?
My friend, choose your music wisely; your spirit will follow its lead!
