On Music Friday This Week: Reuben and the Dark lead off the show at 2:05 pm ET with their new single "Rolling Stone". Reuben and the Dark is the newest project from Calgary's Reuben Bullock and which I cxaught at a club in LA and had to have on the show. Fresh off the release of his second solo album, Bullock has formed a band of some of Alberta's finest musicians, quickly building a reputation as a killer live band. Their soaring four-part vocal harmonies achieve epic heights woven into hammering beats, always leaving crowds hungry for more. At the core of all this are Bullock's songs, which manage to achieve a balance between seemingly disparate elements: the introspective with the anthemic, and the feat of sounding simultaneously ancient and uniquely contemporary.

Irene Diaz returns to Music Friday at 2:30 pm ET with her unique, aching blues and ukelele-backed pop rock. She will also talk with us about the Womyn of Color Conference she is a participant in at Cal State Univesity.Born in the heart of Los Angeles, Irene Diaz has emerged as an independent artist with a tremendous sound and a huge future. A singer/songwriter who plays both guitar and piano, accompanied by her very talented collaborator Carolyn Cardoza,Irene is at home in a recording studio, a showcse or a big hall - she maintains the same intimacy with her audience through a very personal voice. Her initial exposure to music came at a young age, at only 15 years old she developed her own writing/playing style that sets her apart now at 25. We are delighted she can take a break to talk with us.

On Music Friday This Week: Adam Levy is an in-demand session player and one of the nation's outstanding guitarists. His work has appeared on recordings by Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Sex Mob and Ani DiFranco. He released Portuguese Subtitles in July.

Jessica Fleischer is a rising young LA singer/songwriter. She released her first album last year, Lots of Love and wrote and performed the title song for the award winning documentary "Without A Home". Her new video, "It's Hard" is racking up views on YouTube and we talk to her on this episode!

On Music Friday This Week: Palter Ego was founded by vocalist Jesse Palter and keyboardist Sam Barsh, combining jazz, pop, soul and rock. Their music has been featured on Keeping Up The Kardashians, Around the World for Free, and The Real World, and commercials for Coca Cola, and the Webby Awards. We talk with them about their new album Above the Covers and the album of original songs, Id Ego.

Claudia Russell is singer and songwriter who has shared stages with Tracy Grammer, Loudon Wainwright III, Kris Kristoffersen, Willie Nelson, and Rosalie Sorrels among others. She is accompanied by the Folk Unlimited Orchestra. Her music ranges from evocative to fun and rowdy, soulful ballads to Buddy Holly to folk.

On Music Friday This Week: American Idol alum Lea Marie joins us for a full interview - she popped in last week for a few minutes to talk about her show at LA's venerable Whiskey A Gogo. We will play cuts from the new EP, Undercover Lover, including her new single, Take Me for a Ride". And if we are lucky, we can hear some of Lea Marie's soft, personal songs - just her and a piano.

Eddie Grey, legendary guitarist and singer fresh from sold out shows joins us to play cuts from his new album Metamorphoses, released last month. With influences ranging from John Mayer and Jason Mraz to Crosby, Stills and Nash and Sting, his music and style defy any classification but superb.

On Music Friday This Week: Salvador began playing the drums at age 3, shifted to piano at 6, studying at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts and Cal Arts. His education, passion and lineage have turned him into a monster on the keys.

Portland-based The Bylines are grounded in a big-band past and a present of intricate pop. They focus on grand live spectacle, but are equally at home in jazz halls, large rooms and intimate venues.
