So, I was talking to author Krys Copeland the other day about her new book and why she decided to write it. She gave me some hints as to what to expect if you ever decided to write a book. The tree of life is the most widespread symbol of life on earth. It serves as a metaphor for both the expansion of life and its protection. It also represents how all living things are intertwined. Anglo-Saxon Pagans are a loose label used to describe the diverse group of historically Pagan peoples living in the territory of modern England, beginning with Germanic peoples during the 5th century and continuing into the present. They may share certain commonalities with Modern Paganism, such as reverence for nature and other animals (particularly equine), divination practices, and seasonal celebrations. However, they may also differ in beliefs and practices that reflect their diverse origins and varying understandings of what makes up "pagan." For example, while Anglo-Saxon Pagans may share some commonalities with Modern Paganism, they may also have different understandings of what makes up "pagan" tradition. Small town Pagans are people who live in small rural communities. A lot of these Pagans live solitary lifestyles and don't have anyone to socialize with, so they find community online or go to small festivals. Small town Pagans are just as much a part of the Pagan community as anybody else. They're still part of the global movement even if they don't go to every event or connect with everyone they'd like. Back to our regularly scheduled program. Narcissism is every, even in the pagan community. The allure of Neo-Paganism is partly due to its emphasis on community and inclusivity. However, an emphasis on community also requires an ability to put oneself second—or at least be open to doing so—and this can be difficult for those with narcissistic tendencies. Many Pagans see Neo-Paganism as a safe space where they can be their true selves without judgment or fear of reprisal; however, this can be hard for those with narcissistic tendencies because they crave praise and adulation from other people. And some of these narcissists can be quite successful in the Pagan community by becoming leaders and teachers. But this is dangerous. I will explore this topic in more detail in the podcast. However, the seasons are all about cycles and change, which is why they are so important. Even writing here is difficult for me.
