In this episode, we’re joined by King Dari, an emerging artist, musician, and creator from Kansas City, whose journey is defined by resilience, self-discovery, and fearless authenticity.
Growing up in poverty as one of twelve children, fleeing gang-related fires, and navigating environments designed to limit him, King Dari’s story is one of survival and transformation. Becoming the first in his family to graduate from a four-year university, he learned early on that success didn’t come from fitting into a box, but from completely erasing it.
We dive into his openness around mental health, the realities of being an independent artist in a deeply corporate music industry, and how his sound is shaped by an ancestral foundation in gospel music, blended seamlessly with contemporary, secular influences. Sonically and vocally, King Dari bridges worlds sacred and secular, past and present while staying rooted in truth.
With four singles, two EPs, and a powerful catalogue of freestyles and social content, King Dari is building a career on authenticity, intention, and creative freedom.
This is a conversation about identity, healing, independence, and what it really means to claim your voice.

Raised on the streets of Lagos with little sense of what the future might hold, Nino’s life changed dramatically when her father was called home to ascend his ancestral throne — revealing her lineage as an African Princess and descendant of a King and Pan-African war hero. Thrust suddenly into the spotlight at a young age, her world shifted overnight.

The near-death experience deeply impacted her confidence and sense of direction — but it also became the catalyst for her artistic awakening. Through music, Nino found healing, strength, and purpose.
In this conversation, she shares how songwriting became a lifeline, how she pioneered the use of the Talking Drum within R&B, and how cultural identity, resilience, and creativity have shaped her sound. Now a multi-talented and versatile artiste, Nino blends genres and traditions to create something entirely her own.
We also explore her recent achievement of graduating with a First Class Master’s degree in Research in Performing Arts, her collaborations with respected artists and industry leaders, and how she continues to evolve as both an artist and a woman reclaiming her narrative.

There are moments in life that divide everything into before and after. For American singer-songwriter Michael Gilas, that moment came in 2021 when a horseback riding accident left him with a broken neck and unable to perform. Yet what could have ended his story instead became the beginning of his most powerful chapter.
Confined to a bed and forced to relearn the use of his hands, Michael refused to surrender. Using only his thumbs, he began composing melodies and lyrics small sparks that kept him connected to hope. Through resilience, discipline, and the healing power of creativity, he rebuilt his strength and emerged with a renewed purpose. That perseverance paid off in extraordinary ways.
His breakthrough single “Working With The Rain” debuted at #21 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart in February and climbed to #13 by the end of the same month (Adult Contemporary Chart – RadioWave Monitor).
His momentum continues with his newest single, “Can’t Hide Beautiful,” which currently sits at #37 on the AC chart for the week of June 1, 2025, moving up from #40 with two new AC radio adds this week.
The track has also earned strong Mediabase recognition, recently reaching #23 — a clear sign of growing radio support and audience connection.
In this episode, Michael opens up about:
The accident that changed everything
Relearning to use his hands and rebuilding his life
The personal power of music as a lifeline
The making of his debut album, 231 Kensington Road, a tribute to his Long Island roots.
The shift from entrepreneurial success to rediscovering his true passion
Before the accident, Michael built an international company, Gilchrist & Soames, with his brother Tony a global success that offered stability but never replaced his longing for music. It took losing everything to finally return to what he was always meant to do.
Now based in San Diego, Michael is emerging as a compelling voice in the independent music scene, gaining thousands of streams and delivering songs rooted in real resilience, hope, and rebirth.
