For the very last episode of Season 2, we talk about music distribution. My special guest is the lovely Rupert Stroud who is the Artist & Label Partnership Representative for 3Tone Music (my current distributor).
Before working for the company, Rupert first signed up to 3Tone as an artist - so he really has a unique perspective how they work from both ends of the spectrum.
There are loads of distributors out there and we talk about some of the pros and cons of them, what distributors can offer artists in terms of DSP playlist pitching and other fun stuff like getting you verified on social media (which we all know is the main industry secret you've come to hear about, right?)
Both of us also share some of our horror stories about previous distributors (& one off topic hilarious anecdote of a past Rupert Stroud wedding gig) and we of course go through what 3tone can offer artists signing up to their site.

Joining me on this episode is the amazing Christina Hizon, who goes by the name of Tina Keys. Tina is an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist who has played for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Clean Bandit, Roger Taylor, Becky Hill... but I think most notoriously Maisie Peters.
Right after this episode Tina jetted off to the US to tour with Maisie and will be on the road until SEPTEMBER so I am so glad I could catch her in time to record this. We had a brilliant chat about the live industry, how to create a click track, the 'secret' of how to get repeatedly booked for gigs with A List artists and how much harder it is since Brexit to tour outside of the UK.
If you enjoyed this episode, you can follow us on social media & listen to previous episodes in this series here. Huge thanks to Tina for coming on and thank you for listening!
This week's episode is with Steve Tandy who is the founder of Copmedia specialising in regional TV / Radio plugging.
I wanted to get a plugger on this podcast as it's definitely a side of the industry that seems to be more taboo.
I ask Steve all the questions I think my listeners would want to know, from how regional radio can be beneficial to an artists's career, how much a typical single campaign would cost, to who decides what songs make those magical radio playlists.

Introducing the absolute superstar who is... BEKA. Beka and I met at the 2021 'Drake Yolanda' Funding final and I was immediately drawn to her as a person, and then I heard her sing and I was well and truly obsessed.
BEKA has had such an impressive career, collaborating and touring with Honne to her first single (released in 2020) getting track of the week on BBC Radio 1. We talk how she got there, how she build her amazing team, and she shares a brilliant industry secret tip that I've been using ever since.

In this episode I am joined by very own manager, Ben Price (Harbourside Management).
I first met Ben around 8 years ago through a singing competition I was in and he was one of the judges. We eventually started working together back in 2019 and I became of the first artists he signed under 'Harbourside Management' when he launched the company in 2021.
In this episode we go into when is the right time for an artist to seek management, the many different roles managers play and what red flags to look out for in bad managers.
Ben was also really candid with me by talking openly about his non-visible disability and how we are both trying to make conscious efforts towards making the music industry a more accessible and inclusive place.

Little plug from me too, I have just announced that this year I will be releasing my DEBUT ALBUM. For this I am doing a number of fund-raising events, first of which is an exclusive zoom gig where I'll be testing out some potential new songs for the album. I also have a headline show at The Brunswick in Brighton & Hove on Friday 25th March where you can see me play some of my older material maybe for the last time live with my band. Tickets for both of these on my website.
Kicking off Series 2 of the podcast is fellow busker and good friend, Charlotte Campbell.
If you've ever been in London and wandered down the Southbank, you'll have probably come across Charlotte busking underneath the London eye. I knew she would be the best person to have on the podcast to talk about all things busking.
We talk about how to start busking, what gear to use, what pitches you can play (with and without licences) and so much more.
We also go into Charlotte's original career and how she dealt with the backlash she received after getting her cover of Mr Brightside played on Love Island. [Spotify]
This episode was so fun to do and to be honest, it's just a good old chat between two friends talking about music.
Series 2 is coming on Monday 21st February!
