This week we hit another Research and Development episode
and this one confirmed everything I have been talking about for the last couple years.
A couple of European researchers (link below) sought out to determine if there were certain psychological risk factors for overuse injuries in athletes (insert musician there)
They measured perfectionistic tendencies, perfectionistic strivings (watch to find out the difference), athletic identity, and coach-athlete relationship.
What they found out was that the athletes that experienced overuse injuries the most were those who scored higher in 3 out of 4 of these categories!
This study confirmed the mission of Musician Unchained and the Trust the Process Podcast – to provide resources to strengthen musicians against these types of factors!
Keep on keepin' on!
