When they're not busy shuttling the kids to activities, the couple manage their restaurant 'Tin Roof' in Kahului, and Simeon hosts weekly cooking demonstrations on social media. Simeon also just released "Cook Real Hawaii," a cook book featuring more than 100 recipes. It includes his family recipe for pork adobo and a surprising fan favorite: canned sardines topped with chili pepper water and sliced onions. Through his success, Simeon hasn't forgotten his roots. He and his wife have donated more than $15,000 from cook book sales to the Maui Foodbank.

This week on ‘Muthaship,’ a rising artist in Hawaii shares her unexpected journey to success. JT Ojerio, also known as “Aloha De Mele,” is self-taught and never considered herself artsy. She didn’t even know she could draw until a couple of years ago, and battled health complications along the way ― but in her case, they turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

This week on 'Muthaship' we're joined by Gabby Gouveia, one of the co-founders of "Let Grace In," a charity that supports families coping with the loss of their child. Gabby felt the sincere desire to restore hope for bereaved families after she and her husband Ka'eo lost their own 5-year-old son Grayson to an aggressive form of brain cancer in 2016. Since then, Gabby has found a way to continue Grayson's legacy through helping families heal and find ways to move through grief.

This week on ‘Muthaship,’ two high school students who are part of the Youth Council of the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Hawaii join the show to talk about how vaping is becoming increasingly common in Hawaii schools. Nikkya Taliaferro of Moanalua High and Logan Lau from Kamehameha Schools say there is a common misconception among students that vaping is safer than smoking.

They also hope parents will listen to the podcast and talk with their children about the possible long-term health risks associated with vaping so that they can quit vaping or not start at all.

The newly crowned Miss Hawaii 2021 Courtney Choy joins us this week on 'Muthaship'! To describe her as a go-getter may be an understatement. Right after winning the crown — the very next day! — Courtney graduated from the University of Hawaii's law school! The Ewa Beach native and Punahou School alum talks to us about how to use the power of visualization to accomplish goals and shares a special message that will leave all young girls and women feeling empowered.
