In our first MV Stories episode of the 2018-19 school year we are focusing on the real-world work of our students. Recently they created a virtual reality exhibit for the Center for Civil and Human Rights. With a new semester underway--Mount Vernon's Upper School’s Varsity Basketball program is full force. This year the School welcomed new Head coaches to both the boys and girls varsity teams. This year was an epic year at MVPS. In fact, at the very beginning of the school year during Convocation, Head of School Dr Brett Jacobsen, taking a cue from the old testament story of David & Goliath, encouraged the community to Step Up, Stand Out, & Face our Giants. Looking back on the remarkable school year--the MV community did just that. There were so many wins.

Highlighting some those wins as well as preparing us for one of the most important years at the school to date is none other than Mount Vernon’s top fundraiser--Chief Philanthropy Officer Rosalyn Merrick.

Carrying out an essential practice at MVPS of encouraging students to connect learning to the real world, the School launched a new humanities program in the Upper School this year starting with Humanities Grade 9.

Within the class students explore literature, history, social studies, art, music, philosophy, and culture in an integrated fashion.
