God is love and commands us to love one another. Whoever claims to love God must also love their brother and sister.

God defines love – He sent his Son Jesus into the world that we might have eternal life.

God shows us how to love. Just as He loves us, we ought to love others.

God gives us life. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in Him.

Jesus is the Way:  Jesus’ sacrifice has provided us a way back to God.

Jesus is the Truth:  He promises a place for us with God.

Jesus is the Life:  We have eternal life through our faith and trust in Him.

8 November 2015 – John Reid challenges us to look at the command given in 1 John 3 and consider what LOVE truly looks like in our lives – how should we love with just words – or in real actions.

Blair speaks on the words of the Apostle John – 1 John 2:28 – 3:10.

When we put our trust in Jesus we are born again – we are given a new nature and become God’s children.

We can be secure in God’s love. He is our Father and we are part of His family.

Some choose to remain separate from God. Those who wish to receive His invitation become His children.

25 October 2015 – Blair Courtney-O’Connor delivers an engaging and confronting sermon on the dangers we face in the “last hour”.  This sermon is based on 1 John 3 – which in Verse 7 says “Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray.  The one who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous.  The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning.”

18 October 2015 – John Reid speaks to us about the teaching of the Apostle John – 1 John 2: 3-17.

The apostle John is talking to Christians. The truth matters!

Three tests of the truth:

The moral test – as Christians we need to listen to Jesus and reject any teaching that is contrary.

The social test – Jesus gave his life for all – even His enemies.

The doctrinal test (to be covered next week).

Christian spirituality both embraces Jesus’ ethical teaching and affirms His call to love others.

11 October 2015 – Blair Courtney-O’Connor explains the Apostle John’s testimony to the word of Life in 1 John 1:1 – 2:2.  A strong sense of belonging is essential to all people. John proclaims that God’s character is Light. Our beliefs are reflected in our behaviour. As Christians we walk in the Light. We follow Jesus’ commands. We confess our sins and ask for forgiveness. Jesus is our advocate. Through Him we find the joy of Christian fellowship.

4 October 2015 – Blair explains that our purpose in life is to worship God in all situations, to obey His commands so that all we do brings glory to God. When we put our trust in God we are washed in the blood of Christ. Our names are written in the Book of Life and we are welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
