Dr. Eelkema is a recently retired pediatrician and member of MVUUF. She will be giving her perspective on this important topic that was chosen by our congregation as a social justice issue for study in 2014-15.

Health is something that varies over time in us and among us. That is as true for our mental health as it is for what we normally think of as physical health. We will examine our mental health needs and consider how we can address them together as a covenanted congregation.

MVUUF has committed to being a congregation that welcomes LGBT (QQA) persons, and our Welcoming Congregation Committee works to help us keep doing that. Today we examine the sometimes less empha- sized “T,” transgender individuals, with the help of our guest speaker, Jendeen Forberg.

On April 26th, 2015, Reverend Myron Andes was installed as Minnesota Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship's second full-time settled minister. The event included UU speakers from around Minnesota and the wider MidAmerica UUA Region, performances by the MVUUF Choir, Steve Koehler, Betty Olson, Sonja and others. There is a gratitude which depends upon circumstances, for example good luck, or relief from worry.  But there is also gratitude which derives from knowledge, an awareness of how many ways we depend upon one another and also upon nature.  The first gratitude is vulnerable and transient.  The second is fixed and secure against the vagaries and vicissitudes of life.

Passover and Easter are holidays of joy, following sorrow. We will hatch some hope as we explore their meaning.
