It's a secret that's been weighing me down for 34 years.

Yes, you read that right, for 34-years I've hidden this from the world. No, I didn't hide it out of shame or embarrassment, I hid it because people are fast to judge, to form opinions about someone based on a slice of information from a point in time in that persons life. That is why I've kept this secret for so many years.

It didn't come to light because I felt a need to purge, to share it with the world, instead, it was during a deep conversation with a close friend, Pamela Hughes.

Pamela and I have been friends for nearly two decades and we've shared so much information with one another over the years that she was totally caught off guard when I opened up to her about it. In fact, she found out what my secret was almost 12-hours before my wife did.

OK, hang on a sec. Why on earth would I share a deep secret with a close friend before my wife? Context. The context of our conversation was around choices, difficult choices, choices that impact not only today, but tomorrow, and all the tomorrows after.

The clock was ticking... the cat was now out of the bag and I felt compelled to share this with my wife because in that moment I shared it with Pamela, I knew I had to share it with my fans, followers, and friends.

The weight of carrying a secret for so long has taken its toll on me too. Again, not because I am ashamed, but I simply didn't want to deal with the judgement.

It was the morning after my call and I was getting ready for my workday, Allison was doing her hair when the conversation began.
