My 99 Cousins

This is a 2 part episode. Devin heads down to St. George to catch cousin Jeff while he's in town for his brother-in-law's wedding. Jeff talks about his family, and we learn about his parents, Dean and Colleen Andersen, as well as the rest of their children. Jeff talks about his mission, being stationed in Germany, meeting his wife at BYU, and a little about his children. Devin tells stories about Jeff from Jeff's parents and siblings, and Jeff recounts many funny and interesting stories of his childhood. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, so be prepared!

Devin and Sarah travel to Manti to interview Shirlyn and her husband Jef. Shirlyn talks about her time with Devin's family in Texas, and Jef and Heather spend a majority of the episode on the story of their engagement. Heather shares memories of living on the farm, attending American Heritage, and learning to read from Grandma Andersen. Jef speaks on his love for the Andersen family, and his work experience.

Heather comes to town! While visiting family at the farm and other areas close by in Utah County, Heather stops by Devin and Sarah’s home to record her episode. She tells stories of getting injured while playing at uncle VJ’s house, rescuing a dog that was almost killed while in a fight with a much bigger dog, living with health problems from her allergies, and stories of grandma and grandpa Andersen. She talks about her children, and how one of her daughters, Emma, was miraculously saved thanks to breakthrough surgical procedures as a baby. Devin talks about working for the church, and Heather and Devin discuss different temples, including Nauvoo, Manti, and the LA temples.

Devin and Sarah visit cousin Ladawn in Alpine, Utah. Devin recounts to Ladawn how she is part of the most harrowing memory of his life, and how grateful he is that she was there for him and his family during his father's passing. Ladawn shares memories of living in Houston with his family, as well as many memories of other cousins and their grandparents. She tells the story of how her husband joined the church, and other faith promoting stories. Ladawn is the mother of 11 children, and despite being so busy, still finds time for the Lord.

Devin finally interviews a female cousin! Kelli and her family live closest to Devin and Sarah in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Kelli shares a staggering amount of memories about her parents, her cousins, her siblings, aunts and uncles, and even her grandparents. Listen in on touching memories of her mother's passing, fighting with her older sister, the story of how her husband proposed to her, and one of her most embarrassing memories while living in France as a teenager.

Kenny travels down to Orem from Idaho for a few days, and Devin uses that as an opportunity to interview him. Kenny is a middle child of the Kamikaze Kartchners family. He shares experiences from his mission on the "Streets of Laredo", meeting his wife, family reunions, and hobby farming and even how he died in 5th grade but was revived. Devin shares his own memories of staying at the Kartchner's home in Idaho, and why the Kartchners are considered the awesomest of the Awesome Andersens.

Devin invites Daniel to his home for dinner before they quickly set up the microphones at his kitchen table for the episode. Daniel talks about life in Provo, the dating scene in Utah county, and what it’s like to live in the same building you work.

Daniel shares fun stories of his cousins before moving onto the epic tales of the rooster brothers and the Return of the King. Daniel then regales his love of pickleball and why playing it could increase your life span. 

Devin visits his life-long friend, John Paul (JP) Andersen. JP's daughter Chloe makes a welcomed surprise visit before the 2 cousins start swapping stories. Listen to their adventures of getting into trouble at family reunions and around "The Farm" as teenagers. JP talks about his mission in Japan before delving into the fascinating research he did as a phd student in Texas using CRISPR.

Devin has his brother Tyler, and Tyler's wife, Annie, on the podcast. Tyler and Annie talk about how they met, dated, and became engaged. Devin and Tyler share memories of their childhood, and then Annie and Tyler share some exciting news about how they're helping Devin and Sarah expand their family.
