My American Story Podcast Version:

My American Story is a personal journey, an extension of the My Life Series, through the chambers of our nation’s history, where faith, freedom, and conviction once formed the bedrock of our culture. This series explores how the spiritual roots of our Founders shaped the soul of a nation—and how the erosion of those roots has impacted not only my life, but the lives of countless Americans.

Through firsthand reflections, historical insight, and cultural commentary, My American Story invites readers to rediscover the heartbeat of a nation once aligned with biblical truth. It is a call to remember, to reckon, and to rise—to reclaim the legacy of liberty and righteousness before it fades into myth. This is not just my story. It is ours. And it’s time we tell it.

THE ALL-AMERICAN BOY

I grew up with the sound of discipline in the air and the scent of folded flags in our home. My father, a decorated military man, didn’t just wear the uniform—he embodied its values. From an early age, he taught me that patriotism wasn’t a slogan or a sentiment; it was a way of life. I learned to stand when the anthem played, to honor the sacrifices etched into the soil of our nation, and to speak of America not with blind pride, but with reverent gratitude.

He didn’t teach me patriotism through lectures—he lived it. I watched him rise before dawn, polish his boots, and carry himself with a quiet strength that spoke volumes. He taught me that freedom was never free, and that every liberty we enjoy was purchased with blood, sweat, and conviction. Our dinner table conversations often drifted into history, sacrifice, and the moral compass that guided our Founders. He made sure I understood that America’s greatness was rooted in its spiritual foundation, not just its military might.

Under his tutelage, I learned to love this country not for its perfection, but for its promise. He instilled in me a sense of duty—to speak truth, to defend righteousness, and to never take for granted the freedoms others died to secure. That legacy shaped my worldview, my calling, and my voice. I became not just a patriot, but a steward of the values he passed down—values forged in service, refined by faith, and anchored in the belief that America still has a divine purpose to fulfill.

Why this series?

In a time when America’s foundations are being questioned, rewritten, or outright rejected, My American Story stands as a vital witness to truth. This series is important because it confronts the cultural drift away from patriotism, biblical conviction, and historical integrity. In an era where anti-American sentiment is often celebrated and revisionist narratives dominate, personal testimony rooted in faith and heritage becomes a powerful countervoice. By sharing lived experiences shaped by America’s spiritual and constitutional roots, this series invites readers to remember, reflect, and re-engage with the values that once defined a nation—and still can

Who will benefit from this series?

My American Story offers more than a national reflection—it’s a human one. No matter where you live, this series invites you to explore how faith, freedom, and conviction shape identity, culture, and legacy. America’s journey, with its spiritual foundations and cultural shifts, serves as a mirror for nations wrestling with their own moral compass and historical memory.

Readers across the globe will benefit by gaining insight into how biblical truth once guided a nation’s laws, values, and vision—and how its erosion affects not just policy, but people. Whether you're navigating cultural compromise in your own country or seeking clarity in a world of confusion, this series offers timeless principles, personal testimony, and a prophetic lens that transcends borders. It’s not just about America—it’s about the soul of every nation.

Why is loyalty to a nation important?

Loyalty to one’s nation, when rightly ordered, is an extension of loyalty to Christ—especially when that nation was founded upon biblical principles. Scripture affirms that all governing authority is established by God: “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God” (Romans 13:1). This means honoring civil leadership is not merely patriotic—it’s spiritual obedience.

When believers respect lawful authority, uphold justice, and seek the welfare of their nation, they reflect the heart of Christ, who submitted to earthly rulers even as He fulfilled divine purpose. Loyalty to nation becomes disloyalty only when it contradicts loyalty to the Kingdom. But when a nation’s laws align with God’s truth, honoring that nation is honoring the One who ordained it. In such times, patriotism is not idolatry—it is stewardship.

This series will translate timeless truths into practical steps for everyday life.

As My American Story unfolds, Judge Mark T. Boonstra and I are prayerfully and strategically preparing to publish a full-length book in 2026 that will capture the heart of this series. Drawing from our shared convictions, historical insight, and personal testimony, the book will serve as both a cultural reckoning and a spiritual roadmap. It will expand on the themes explored throughout the series—faith, patriotism, legacy, and truth—offering readers a compelling resource to navigate the times and reclaim the foundations that once made America strong. Stay with us on this journey; the final chapter is being written.

I hope and pray that My American Story not only helps you understand the convictions that shape my life, but also rekindles your love for God, your appreciation for the nation you serve, and your embrace of the indwelling Life of Christ. In a time of cultural confusion and spiritual compromise, may this series serve as a beacon—calling you back to truth, identity, and purpose rooted in eternal foundations.
