I was delighted to get together for a chat with the acclaimed author and acupuncturist Jenny Allison - author of The Golden Month: Caring for the World's Mothers After Childbirth.   We discussed a number of different topics including the importance of the postpartum 'golden month' for a new mother and how the way that she is cared for in the 'first forty days' can have a lasting impact on her future health and well-being both physically and emotionally.  We spoke about the four tenants of traditional postpartum care practises in various cultures worldwide and the commonalities among them.  Jenny also talks about how the postpartum is viewed from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine and how we can bring some of those guidelines into our own lives.
