In this episode we talk about white privilege and what it means, who it benefits, and who it hurts. We go into the story of Kalief Browder, a young Black teenager whose life comes to a tragic end at the age of 25 after spending 3 years at New York City’s Rikers Island jail for a crime he did not commit.
The organizations we talk about in this episode are:
The Kalief Browder Foundation. This organization was started in the memory of Kalief Browder. You can find out more and support the organizations mission at https://www.kaliefbrowderfoundation.com/. There is a Netflix docuseries about Kalief called “Time: The Kalief Browder Story” if you want to learn more about this young man’s story.
The Know Your Rights Camp, a campaign started by Colin Kaepernick. You can find them at https://www.knowyourrightscamp.com/.
