Dear listeners!
This time of year it's definitely hygge-time don't you think?
Lots have been written about hygge but in this episode, I take you a little back in history so that maybe you'll learn more about more about hygge.
If you've listened to My Danish Experience podcast before, you'll know that I also do conversations with Bonus Danes (my word for foreigners). They can be in English or in Danish. If you would like to participate in My Danish Experience Podcast, please write to [email protected] - this is also the email that you can use if you’re interested in a Danish course with me/Danish Matters.
Your story doesn't have to be out of the ordinary - no need to have acquaintances at the royal court, hold a high position (in fact, you can be unemployed), or be an ideal Danish learner. You don't have to like ‘leverpostej’ either 😉

Dear listeners!
Welcome to (solo) episode 6 of My Danish Experience Podcast. This one is about parenting teenagers but if you'd like to know about how we parent children in Denmark, go to episode 4. The next solo episode will be about school and sparetime in Denmark (for adults, too).
How do Danes parent their teenagers? Listen and find out how we deal with things like alcohol and sex (yes, because whether we like it or not, our children also become older and will have sex).
This episode is very short but I hope it'll still be useful to you. Solo episodes will normally be in English which this one is, too.

Dear listeners!
Welcome to the Danish Matters Podcast 'My Danish Experience - for, with, and about Bonus Danes in Denmark' and to 5# Getting a Job in Denmark - Being a Man in the Workplace - Can We Define Being Danish?
Jesse from the Netherlands is my guest and we talk about a lot of different things.
Jesse has learned Danish but not in a conventional way. One thing he did was learn from a stay at a folk high school. There are many of those in Denmark, one is Toftelund for music and theatre in the southern part of Jutland (Sønderjylland): https://musikogteater.dk/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5JSLBhCxARIsAHgO2SfDlDuUaxFKfGctl_nrX7RxIuJsafRP7vfe4J1MfRCY7E1Z0FOVCqkaAvAwEALw_wcB
Jesse mentions a Youtube channel called 'Dansk udtale'. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCELY640l4PvwswWPTfMQ5YA
My guest and I also talk about working in Denmark and going to job interviews as well as being a man in the workplace and men working with children.
We also touch upon the challenging question: what defines a Dane?
Jesse also mentions taking an initiative when socializing in Denmark.

This and much more you can hear about in this episode of My Danish Experience Podcast.
Joe also mentions some attractions in and near Århus, Jylland (Jutland):
Djurs sommerland: https://djurssommerland.dk/en/
Den gamle by i Århus: https://www.dengamleby.dk/en/den-gamle-by/
Aros: https://www.aros.dk/en/
Mosegård museum: https://www.moesgaardmuseum.dk/
Trapholt museum: https://trapholt.dk/en/
Joe also mentions volunteer work: https://www.frivilligcenteraarhus.dk/
