Making Space For Menopause

My Emotional Eating Origin: My Kitchen Cupboard Story

Listen Later

Emotional eating can have many roots, can't it? We are human, and we eat with emotion, when happy, in celebration, in faith, and in ceremony. We eat with emotion when with friends, and in grief.

**TW: family dysfunction, alcohol use. Not intended as medical advice. This is for education and information purposes only**

I share how I developed eating as a coping mechanism as a young girl.

It's common for food and feelings to become intertwined, and it's common to see this highlighted negatively on social media.

When I turned 50, I found old food stories, and body image messages, crept up again in my head. Childhood memoreis came rushing back as my mom was nearing her end of life, I saw that I was STILL looking for belonging, and I was also feeling alone.

These are the feelings that make up my kitchen cupboard food story.

I recorded this so that you would not feel so alone.
