Episode 28: In this episode, Timalyn talks about marketing for Enrolled Agents. This is not about running Ads online or in newspapers and radio. This episode is about showing up with intention to build brand awareness and drive sales. This can be done in person, online, and organically.
Do you need a plug and play for your firm's marketing plan? This episode is for you !
Timalyn shares that the most important parts of marketing are:
- Knowing what your marketing goal is
- Being clear in your message so your audiences know who you are, who you work with, and how you help
- Understanding what a marketing lead is
- Having an intentional call to action
- Understanding whether the marketing is not working or you aren't
Timalyn encourages Enrolled Agents to focus on the basics. If you want to do representation then you need to build on the foundation of Installment agreements.
If you don't know how to do Installment Agreements, or maybe you're not comfortable with them yet, you can purchase the Installment Agreement course that Timalyn taught here: Installment Agreements.
The homework for this week is to understand the pain points of your ideal client. To take a look to understand installment agreements, understand currently not collectible status, and how bankruptcy works with back taxes.

Episode 27: In this episode, Timalyn talks about service offerings for Enrolled Agents. She approaches the topic from a non-traditional sense, encouraging listeners to connect their service offering to their purpose.
Timalyn shares that from her experience, having clarity on what your purpose is and carrying that out through your service offerings is more rewarding.
She believes that all Enrolled Agents should offer tax representation services. She feels they don't because they downplay the relief they provide taxpayers by even setting up an Installment Agreement.
Timalyn encourages Enrolled Agents who want to focus on tax preparation to at least do Installment Agreements for taxpayers. That is what 90% of taxpayers qualify for.
If you don't know how to do Installment Agreements, or maybe you're not comfortable with them yet, you can purchase the Installment Agreement course that Timalyn taught here: Installment Agreements. Timalyn also urges listeners not to offer services that they don't understand or are not equipped to do. The examples she gave are: Business tax preparation and bookkeeping without understanding accounting or tax account monitoring, and you can't read transcripts. Timalyn encourages listeners to be honest with themselves about what their purpose is. Then connect that to the Enrolled Agent credential. She challenges them to create that into a service offering.
The homework for this week is to share in the comments what your purpose is. If you're unsure, Timalyn has offered to do a 30-minute clarity call with the first 3 people who share in the comments that they are unclear and would like clarity.

Timalyn shares how to determine the amount of time that should be spent on tasks such as marketing and administration work. She also shares why it is important to never stop marketing yourself as a brand and a business. Before you can manage your time properly, you must be honest with yourself about how much you have on your plate. Then be honest about how much action you've taken . Do you not have time or are you drowning in overwhelm?
Start by doing a brain dump of everything you need to accomplish. Then prioritize those things. Then identify the items that must get done but are not a good use of your time. Can you outsource those yet? At this point, if you don't have money or clients, marketing should not be what is outsourced.
