The weight of anger
David points out that if you're angry, you have to think specific thoughts, move in a certain way, and focus on certain things. Anger is something you do—not something you are, and it includes movement, thought processes, and physiology. There must be a catalyst, and then you must assign it meaning. You can become triggered by something or someone, and then you behave angrily.
When you behave angrily, you are scowling, tense, and focused on something negative. What if your pilot is late for your flight? Or the plane needs maintenance? Or is it rescheduled because of the weather? People get so upset by that. Things change, it comes with the territory.
The transformational power of kindness
When you're emitting angry energy, what happens? People are impatient, frustrated, short, impolite, and unapologetic. The person helping them is doing so under pressure. Because they have a job to do, they have to steel themselves.
David could walk up to that same person with warm and compassionate energy and say, "Hey, how are you doing?" and be genuinely kind. You can apologize for the person you were behind. He often asks people if they want a hug. While a stranger isn't likely to hug you, your demeanour leads to immediate response. The tension rolls off of them. The response is almost always a relief, openness, and a willingness to help.
You have the ultimate power.
You get to decide how you respond in any given situation. You have the power to share kindness. The intention is always to be giving. If someone is having a bad day and they're angry, short, and frustrated—look at it as a personal challenge. The angrier the person is, the more compassionate David tries to be. You have the absolute power to manage the situation. This person may not be deserving of his kindness. But he can break through it.
You have the power to create a beautiful outer world. A world where people will bend over backwards to do kind things for you. How? By just being kind. By emitting different energy. If someone isn't more compassionate in response, at least you're in a calm and centered place.
David went to one of Cesar Milan's live shows, and he would bring out wild dogs that were uncontrollable. He would transform them within minutes. Cesar calls it calm-assertive energy. What if you started implementing calm assertive energy in your daily life?
How to experience the world of the magician
If you want to experience the world of the magician and you want everything to work in your favour, you must understand that you have to give disproportionately. You give to people that don't deserve it. You elevate above situations.
Magical things will happen wherever you go. David emphasizes that if you want to taste the life of the wizard, you have to practice. Walk into a bar or restaurant and pretend to close up. Don't communicate, be short with people, and watch how people treat you. They mirror your energy.
But when you're open, kind, confident, caring, and loving, people tend to open up. You must love beyond the capacity of most people to receive. You give without expecting anything in return. The world will repay you tenfold. And that is how you embrace the power of the magician.
