Today is election day and we won't know for a while who will be President for the next 4 years.

From rock (I Need Your Love Tonight) to blues (Reconsider Baby) to gospel (Joshua Fit The Battle of Jericho) to "crooner" (Witchcraft with Frank Sinatra) we'll always know that Elvis is the King.

Recognized as one of the greatest groups of all times, the Beatles recorded a lot of music individually. Remember hurrying home from school to catch American Bandstand? All the greats showed up hyping their latest song. And we all gave our rating for the beat, the sound, etc.

Dave & Gene thought it would be fitting to center our newest podcast around Bandstand. Can you name the very first artist to appear on the show? How about the artist that appeared the most times?

Put on your dancing shoes, close your eyes and "watch" those dancers move past the "camera".

It wasn't long after the creation of the horseless carriage that songwriters began writing tunes about cars. But it took the rock era to motivate us down the road with Chuck Berry, Springsteen, The Ides of March and others.

"Occupy Wall Street" brought back memories of the 60's. The Woodstock generation brought us together during Vietnam. But there were other protests going on. We've put together a collection of music, some still relevant today. Listen to Graham Nash, Ricky Nelson, Tom Jones, David Crosby, Peter, Paul & Mary and others remind us of those "Protest Years."

It's had to believe that it's that time of year again. Gene & Dave celebrate the holidays with offerings by Sammy Davis, Jr, Coldplay, Blues Traveler, Trisha Yearwood and more. So start roasting those chestnuts, sit back and relas with a glass of eggnog. Merry Christmas!

Frank Sinatra had a top 40 hit. The Beatles had 32 songs that hit the charts. Bobby Vinton tried to cash in on the British rage and the Ventures re-invented themselves and tried to start a new trend in music, "space rock".

Tragically, we've lost some great talent over the years due to car wrecks, airplane and helicopter crashes, drugs, etc. Dave and Gene take a look at the music artists that have left us, Bobby Darin, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, Richie Valens and more. Listen to these greats and think about what they might have accomplished had they lived longer.

Female singers and songwriters have had some of the biggest chartbusters over the years. Dave and Gene have found some interesting songs for this month.  Go "South of the Border" or listen in to Mary Black (Ireland) or Basia (Poland) to get a flavor of what we found. And when you get back, be sure to go chasing a "White Rabbit" (a Fillmore live concert rendition by Grace Slick and the Great Society).
