There was a time when money didn’t exist, and humans just lived. Unfortunately, now we are paying to live. We are the only species that pays to live on earth. Why? I sat there searching for an answer, but I only found more questions. Why are humans just accepting this way of living and not questioning any of it for a second? Why does the world revolve around money now? Something as simple as paper that comes from trees. It’s just paper so why do we give it so much value? Why do humans focus so heavily on the materialistic aspect to life that nothing else seems to hold any value anymore? Then I realized, money is power. The more money you have, the more powerful you are. Money is meant to control, restrict, and divide people. We are all programmed at a young age into believing that money will bring us happiness and the only way to obtain it, is through working. There is a song called Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. There is a line in it that caught my attention. “You're a slave to the money then you die.” This statement is our reality. We are all slaves to money whether we realize it or not.
