My History in Gaming Podcast

Whilst all of my games so far have been a look back at unusual games that were special to me for this episode I wanted to look at two games that were special for everyone. To make things different though I'll be playing along with my son, Lewis, who loves the modern Mario games and seeing if he still enjoys the classics from the SNES era.

Mastertronic were one of the most proffesional and brand aware computer games company of the 80s and the bulk of many children's 8 bit games collections at that time, Here I look at one of their classics, One Man & His Droid, that still stands the test of time today.

I've always loved adventure games from the old classic text adventures like Zork through to Ron Gilbert's classic Lucasart games which took up a lot of my time in the late eighties and early nineties. Here I take a look at how that may have influenced me in real life.

Damocles, by Paul Woakes and released by Novagen is one of the best games ever created. The second in the Mercenary series and released in 1990 on the Atari ST & Amiga it's all about saving a galaxy, whilst being on your own. The perfect Isolation game.

I remember playing Star Wars in the arcades, Empire Strikes Back being one of my favourite console shooters fo the 80's and Racer being the reason I bought an N64. Star Wars games are as important as the films ... the original trilogy anyway.

I've been gaming since the day I was born (well almost) and it hasn't done me any harm - but whenever I see anything about gaming in the media it's generally negative. The reason for my podcast is to look at games I loved to play and also the great effect playing those games had on me.

Everyone has played Pac-Man. I still play Pac-Man but there are three versions of this age old game that I've played more that most over the years - Pac-Man on the Atari 2600, Pacmania, and Pac-Land. Here I talk about these three games and what they mean't to me.
