My Kid's Got the Autism

That one day when I went away for the weekend and everything fell apart -- people got sick, people went away, the kid and his dad spent over two weeks on their own, and having to tell Campbell about death for the first time.

It's an episode from the heart, telling a story that needed to be personally said out loud in order to move on with the show and to put an insane November behind us. 

That one day when Campbell does something scary, freaking everyone out, right there in The Most Magical Place on Earth. An episode about breaking glass, a freaked out dad, great Disney dining, and the importance of a decent wi-fi signal. 

That one day when I realized it was "Diagnosis Week", and reflect up on this week in 2013, when we got the official diagnosis of autism on our kid... and a story of communication and hope.

That one day when we find Campbell standing in the kitchen, evidence of the crime strewn about. An episode on the struggles of obedience, the resulting punishment, and the dangers of not following the rules.

That one day when they canceled schools because of a pandemic, and then we had to figure out how to survive the next (the last?) five months together with school and YouTube and trampoline parks and neighborhood parties and more. 

That one day when I decided to do the autism podcast again, this time discussing our adventures... our Splash Adventures... at the local water park -- including the dangers of the big slide and family restroom searches.

That one day when Sunday lunch at church took a terrible turn for the melty downy... in Autism in the World, President Trump signs the Autism CARES act... and thoughts on impulse control. 

That one day when the kid recognized a classmate in a restaurant, to much hilarity.  Just a quick story in a quick episode.

That one day when the kid got invited to a party and refused to go in.. because of bounce houses.  And then that other day when he had a blast at a bounce house party. A discussion about birthday parties, his struggles with local indoor playgrounds, Rock Star Whitton, and how to prepare for an autism kid coming to your typical kid party. 

That one day when the kid escaped a Whole Foods shopping cart... which leads to a discussion on how to shop with the kid at various places like Whole Foods, Publix, Wal-Mart, and Target.
