My Life and Welcome To It

This is the last episode. It is the culmination of years. I end up with defining how I see myself as a follower of Jesus. I have lots of gratitude for David Paterson, without whom I may never had attempted this podcast. And to Dave Edwards, who provided the original artwork. And, of course, to you - the listener, and to all who played a part in my life.

This was one of my most difficult episodes to complete. The subject of Non-Dualism and Christianity has been on my mind for years, but I never really thought deeply about it. This is my attempt to do so.

As I got closer to returning to Christianity, I discovered The Jesus Prayer, and began praying it. It has become a natural part of my life. In this episode I share a little of its history, what writers on prayer have said about it, and how I practice it today.

A big part of my life for the last 18 years or so is being a catechist, walking along with those seeking to become Catholic Christians. In this episode I share my journey from my mother's father, through my mother, some personal experiences, and finally getting formal training, and then the years of discovery on what it means to be a catechist.

The Sacred Liturgy of the Mass engages us body, soul, and spirit. In order to remain focused I came up with a system I call Liturgical Mindfulness. In this episode I also read from an essay I wrote about three questions I have regarding what we do in the Mass. I've done my best to come up with some answers. I hope you find this interesting.

Last time I shared about what it meant to be a priest in Christ through baptism in the context of the Liturgy of the Mass. In this episode, I look at what it means to be a priest in Christ through baptism in the context of the world. Moving from the common priesthood to the cosmic priesthood.

Today I talk about the Common or Baptismal Priesthood. What is it, and how does it relate to the Levitical Priesthood of the Old Covenant. I end up talking about the purpose of the priesthood and the liturgy.

After a 3 year hiatus, it is time to finish this podcast. In this episode we journey from when I was received into the Roman Catholic Church, the various ministries I was led into, and how my relationship to the Liturgy of the Mass changed.

I'm recording this on Dec. 31, 2022 at 11pm. My last episode was recorded in July. That's a bit of a gap. So, I share my New Year's Resolution to be more disciplined in recording episodes. I also talk about what the topics may include.

In this episode I talk about a subject that I have tried hard to avoid. However, with the reversal of Roe v. Wade I felt like I wanted to say something. I have framed the topic around Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan.

Season three is all about how I began to live out my faith as a Catholic Christian, learning the various devotions and embracing teachings that were foreign to my Protestant and Evangelical past.
