Welcome to the last episode of season 3- and what a story it is! It is an honor to have today’s guest, Roger Helle.

He was awarded the Bronze Star medal with combat “V”, three Purple Heart medals
and numerous other medals and awards.

His story will captivate you. From a young child abandoned by his parents to a teen facing death as a wounded soldier in Vietnam, to a broken man who recalled a defining moment in his life that set him on the path to healing.

It reminds us that nothing is impossible with God. Join us now as Roger shares his story.

From Roger’s book—
“Ron entered the long hospital corridor looking for his brother Roger. After searching the ward unsuccessfully, he approached a doctor standing by the bed of a patient. "I'm Sergeant Helle's brother," he said. "How is he?" The doctor looked at Ron and said, "I'm sorry, son, but your brother is going to die. There's nothing else we can do."

Just a few beds away, drifting in and out of consciousness, Roger heard the doctor's death sentence. Not yet twenty-three years old, he felt fear grip his heart in a way he had not even experienced on the battlefield. That fear caused him to do something he had never done before. Roger silently prayed, "God, if there is a God, if you let me live, I'll do anything you want!" Then he slipped mercifully back into a drug-induced sleep.

That prayer would be answered in a way Roger could never have imagined, but only after years of nightmares, alcohol, and tortured emotional battles. Peace did come at last as Roger not only made peace with Vietnam, but the emotional pain of his past as well.”

Roger and Shirley Helle live in Chattanooga Tennessee. They retired from Teen Challenge in 2017 after 40 years of ministry. The Helle's continue to travel across the country speaking and ministering.

Known as Rod The Puppet Guy, Rod Butler, has been creating and performing live puppet shows for more than 40 years.

His many talents have been seen and heard via National radio programs, TV commercials, seminars, hospitals, churches, and schools.

Rod is also an author, creative writer, genuine friend and one of the kindest people you will ever meet. It’s my honor to have him as today’s guest.

-ABOUT-
Rod Butler grew up listening to the snapping keys of the typewriter as his father, John K. Butler wrote classic Westerns including My Pal Trigger and Silver Spurs starring Roy Rogers. Rod went on to fill books with poetry, stories, and cartoons, eventually writing for television, print, online, and radio. Rod's radio career includes creating and hosting the nationally syndicated Coconut Hut Radio Show, starring as Bongo Rod, Bob Dah Lobstah, Captain FlashLight, and other characters. He produced the animated series Boy + Dog for Daystar TV and Trinity Broadcasting Network and has written hundreds of educational scripts for Responsive Ed. Rod is also a children's minister and a professional puppeteer, on YouTube as Rod The Puppet Guy. He is married with three grown children and several trunk-loads of puppets.

EPISODE: TOM & SHERRY GREEN / EVIDENCE OF LOVE

Hi friends, I’m glad you’ve joined me for todays podcast,
it’s a very special one to me personally.

Tom and Sherry Green married in 1972 and have been ministering together ever since. Their life, music, wisdom and love for Jesus has impacted countless lives, including my own. I was delighted to interview them in November of 2022, and have it air as my 1st episode of 2023.

What makes this episode so unique is that this interview will have been my last conversation with Tom. Sadly, Tom died suddenly on January 2nd.

Obviously this was heartbreaking news to all who knew Tom.
The family still wanted this to air as a part of honoring the life and legacy of Tom
and Sherry’s ministry together.
You will hear both Tom & Sherry share their music, life, and their strong faith.

Our love and prayers are daily for Sherry and their family.
Tom will be deeply missed.
But we rejoice that he is now in the presence of Jesus.
