The Jews at the time of Jesus believed that sin caused illness.  Jesus told His disciples that a man born blind . . was not because of sin but for the glory of God to be shown in the man's life.  I share another scripture and a story about a little Cinderella.

They work because they point to what we know - not to what we think or feel.

I know it seems like I am all over the place with this particular blog, but hang in there, I'm going somewhere.  I do have a point.

Two men wanted to follow Jesus . . but were they really ready?  . . did they follow Him?  What did Jesus say . .?

Jesus had just performed a miracle in the synagogue on the Sabbath.  At Peter's house, He found Peter's mother-in-law very ill.  He took her by the hand, rebuking the fever and she immediately began to serve them.  

Have you ever recovered from a serious illness and gone straight to work cooking and cleaning?  Me neither.  But Peter's mother-in-law did!  

This has nothing to do with the podcast, but have you ever seen the movie "The Waitress?"  At the end she says "I don't want no baby, Earl".  So I feel like saying,  "I don't want no weeping and gnashing of teeth, Earl!"

Jesus is pleased with faith!

In the tradition of John and Charles Wesley, I have written words to the popular song "I'm Proud to be an American".  While I am proud to be an American, I am also sad to be an American today.  We are the only country that has consistent periodic mass shootings including those of school children in school.

Do you remember or have you seen a sitcom years ago called "Lavern & Shirley"?  Two working girls against the world.  Lavern had a favorite drink of milk and Pepsi, half and half in the same glass.  Yuck, I say!  But she loved it.  So what was it in the end?  Well, that's the point.  It could demonstrate worry and trust in the same heart at the same time.  Not possible!  Either worry prevails or trust prevails because the dominant thought wins!

I received a phone call from a young woman and she stated this:          "You have 5 mInutes to talk me out of an abortion."

She asked, "If I go through with this, will I go to hell?"
