It is a regrettable fact that gender-, based violence continues to be prevalent in our society. This episode of My Perspective; Stories of Recovery Experience discusses the important topic of family and domestic violence. Leesa, a clinician, tells us of her story. She courageously explains how violence affected her life, and how she overcame those consequences to live in a way that enriches others as well as being enriched.

In this episode Chris talks with Lisa about the different types of challenges she faced as she moved through her recovery after a traumatic accident. Lisa was on a working holiday in the UK when she was suddenly injured and spent many months in hospital and in rehabilitation. She faced many hurdles to her recovery and she opens up about these lived experiences and the approach she took to overcome these obstacles. We are so fortunate to be able to share this moving story with you.

In this episode of My Perspective, ‘Stories of Recovery Experiences’ we hear Todd’s Story. A young business person, a successful cricketer with many things in life going his way until a life changing medical episode occurred. He describes his background in sport and business, his diagnosis and, the lessons he has learned along his recovery pathway. This is a deeply personal story, which is a privilege to share.
In this episode we hear from Jenny, an Occupational Therapist. Jenny talks about recovery from her perspective as a clinician. Perhaps more importantly, she talks about it from the perspective of lived experience. Jenny understands recovery from the perspective of someone who experienced a significant health event and that of a carer. She discusses these perspectives –mother/carer, own life experience and clinician—and how they have influenced and changed her as a person.
In this episode of My Perspective, Malcolm talks with Ryan Medley, a typical knock-about bloke from country NSW. Ryan talks about his life and the sudden unexpected event that turned his life around. Confined now to a wheelchair, Ryan refuses to be defined by his disability. He talks of the changes that he has initiated in his life, and the meanings that he has found, as a result of adversity.
