Clothing should not have gender and Fashion has a lot to answer when it comes to what ideas we are fed, but overall, are you willing to be yourself and express yourself the way you want to and more importantly, can you? The Equality Act protects people from discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

But a landmark ruling today now confirms that protection to non-binary and gender fluid people does fall under the gender reassignment category, after years of ambiguity” Forbes

Today we will be discussing misgendering with Phil, the importance of using the right pronouns, what to do if you make a mistake and some advice on resources available.

If you know someone who wishes to change the pronoun by which they are referred (for example from she to he), try to understand it is very important to them that you respect this, even if you initially find it difficult to consider them that gender.  Deliberately using a different pronoun for the person will be experienced as offensive, judgemental and hurtful

Most trans people will use the most common pronouns, ‘he’ and ‘she’, to refer to themselves. However, some people may use the gender neutral pronouns ‘they’ and ‘their’ in the singular sense.
