  • ISTJ Boss v ISTP Employee
Today's question is from John who says

I an an ISTJ in charge of 10 direct reports. I recently found out that two of them are ISTP - and these two people are the most difficult ones in my charge. We seem to have a barrier in communication and work style. For example, they do not follow standard operating procedures, have to be reminded to document their work and have an informal attitude in situations that require formality. Do you have any advice for us to work together more effectively?

  • INTJ v INFP Communication
Thanks for tuning in to Myers-Briggs Question Corner!

Today’s question is from a woman I’ll call Mary:
How can I best communicate with my INTJ boss?

I’ll first talk about the natural communication style for INTJs, then INFPs, and will then discuss strategies for each to implement to better understand and work with each other. We'll also include some snippets of conversation of what a discussion between an INFP and INTJ might sound like.

  • INFP Stay Organized
How can INFPs stay organized and stick to a routine?

Today’s question comes from Geoff, who asks, “What tips do you have for INFPs to stay organized and stick to a routine?”

Routines, schedules, and organization are not tasks that come naturally to INFP types. It is possible to develop these skills, but like anything that comes naturally, it will likely take some hard work and dedication...

Listen in as DC Metro Career Counselor (and owner of A Top Career) Edythe Richards provides the answers.

  • Best MBTI Leaders Part 1
Which Myers-Briggs Types make the best leaders? (part 1)

With the increasing focus on effective leadership, I'm not surprised that this question came up.

"Which Myers-Briggs Types make the best leaders?"

Ok folks: realistically you know that there isn't really one best "leader" type. Different leaders are going to have different qualities that appeal to different people. You can Google "effective leadership qualities" or "great leaders" – but what we're really talking about here is leadership as it relates to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – a personality inventory that has absolutely no bearing on anyone's ability to lead effectively.

  • INTJ v ENFP Relationship
    Are INTJs compatible with ENFPs?

Today’s question comes from Sandra, who states, “I am an ENFP and have recently started dating an INTJ. What can you tell me about this pairing?”

Let me start by saying that it is my belief as a Myers-Briggs Master Practitioner that any 2 healthy, well-developed people of any Myers-Briggs Types can have a successful relationship. While the Myers-Briggs may be useful in predicting some joys and challenges that various relationships will face, there is no completely accurate method for predicting relationship success with any assessment or tool. Personality is such a complex topic, and much as some people would like to believe otherwise, personality isn’t quantifiable nor "diagnosable".

  • ENFP Boost Assertiveness. Say No.
Today's question comes from a lovely lady named Patricia.

"As an ENFP, I struggle with the fine line of being both assertive and professional at work. I tend to say yes a lot to requests and take on too many tasks. How can I say no while still being professional AND assertive?"

  • ISFJ Family Relationships
Today's Myers-Briggs® Question Corner Podcast focuses on ISFJ family relationships.

    The question comes from Alena.

"Ever since I took the Myers-Briggs assessment as part of a student development course in College I've felt validated.
I came out as an ISFJ. It's now clear to me that both my parents, my brothers and most of my family members are Extraverts. Most of family are Thinkers, while I am a Feeler. I spent many years thinking there was something was wrong with me but now I know that I'm just naturally different. Yet this knowledge doesn't help when I visit my family. Holiday events and loud parties are the norm for most everyone in my family, but I can't wait to escape them.
I do love my family and I know they love me - but how can I get them to understand that I need my Introverted Space?"
