Story Transcript:

Ga: Bhí an ghaoth ag séideadh go láidir os cionn Aillte an Mhothair.
En: The wind was blowing strongly over the Cliffs of Moher.

Ga: Bhí an t-uisce ag preabadh suas i gcoinne na n-áillte móra.
En: The water was splashing up against the large cliffs.

Ga: Bhí Aoife agus Declan, beirt de mhuintir Uí Chreagáin, cruinnithe lena gclann.
En: Aoife and Declan, both from the O'Creagáin family, were gathered with their family.

Ga: Bhí áthas orthu a bheith le chéile.
En: They were happy to be together.

Ga: Ach ansin, thug Aoife faoi deara rud éigin.
En: But then, Aoife noticed something.

Ga: Ní raibh an seanfhéisteas a bhí mar oidhreacht an teaghlaigh i láthair.
En: The old heirloom that was the family’s heritage was not present.

Ga: Bhí sé imithe.
En: It was gone.

Ga: Bhí ceann de lucht na clainne á iompar i rith na hócáide, ach anois, ní raibh sé le feiceáil.
En: Someone in the family had been wearing it during the occasion, but now, it was nowhere to be seen.

Ga: Thosaigh Aoife agus Declan ag cuardach go faíoch.
En: Aoife and Declan began searching frantically.

Ga: "Caithfimid é a fháil," a dúirt Aoife, a súile lán le buairt.
En: "We must find it," said Aoife, her eyes full of worry.

Ga: Bhí sé an-tábhachtach.
En: It was very important.

Ga: Go tobann, chonaic Declan rud aisteach.
En: Suddenly, Declan noticed something strange.

Ga: Bhí siombailí seanda greanta ar na carraigeacha.
En: Ancient symbols were carved into the rocks.

Ga: Chomh fada agus is eol dóibh, ní raibh siad ann roimhe seo.
En: As far as they knew, they had never been there before.

Ga: Bhí siad mistéireach agus scanrúil.
En: They were mysterious and frightening.

Ga: Lean siad na siombailí tríd na bailte oidhreachtaí.
En: They followed the symbols through the heritage towns.

Ga: Bhí an ghrian ag dul faoi anois, agus bhí orlach de dhorcha ag scaipeadh ar an spéir.
En: The sun was setting now, and an inch of darkness was spreading across the sky.

Ga: Tháinig siad go dtí áit chiúin.
En: They arrived at a quiet place.

Ga: Bhí balla cloch ann le siombailí níos soiléire fós.
En: There was a stone wall with even clearer symbols.

Ga: D'fhéach Declan ar Aoife.
En: Declan looked at Aoife.

Ga: "Cad atá siadsan ag insint dúinn?
En: "What are they telling us?"

Ga: " a d'fhiafraigh Aoife go ciúin.
En: Aoife asked quietly.

Ga: Shocraigh siad leanúint ar aghaidh.
En: They decided to continue.

Ga: Go tobann, chuala siad glór aisteach.
En: All of a sudden, they heard a strange sound.

Ga: Bhí sé cosúil le caoineadh na gaoithe, ach cinnte go raibh brí leis.
En: It was like the wind's cry, but it definitely had meaning.

Ga: Lean siad an fuaim go dtí go bhfuaireadar doras folaithe i leithéid de charraig.
En: They followed the sound until they found a hidden door in a rock.

Ga: Bhí eagla orthu, ach bhí a fhios acu go gcaithfeadh siad dul isteach.
En: They were scared, but they knew they had to go inside.

Ga: Sa dorchla doshamhlaithe seo, bhí seomra beag lit le tóirsí.
En: In this unimaginable corridor, there was a small room lit by torches.

Ga: Bhí sean-leabhar ar an tábla.
En: There was an old book on the table.

Ga: Thóg Declan é suas go cúramach, agus chuir Aoife a lámh ar a ghualainn chun tacaíocht a thabhairt dó.
En: Declan picked it up carefully, and Aoife placed her hand on his shoulder to support him.

Ga: Bhí an leabhar lán le pictiúir agus siombailí.
En: The book was full of pictures and symbols.

Ga: “Seo an eochair,” a dúirt Declan.
En: “This is the key,” said Declan.

Ga: D'oscail sé leathanach áirithe agus ann, thit amach geatairín beag a bhí ceilte sa teideal.
En: He opened a particular page and there, a small key hidden in the title fell out.

Ga: Luig sé go néata isteach i nglais eile ar bhalla timpeall an tseomra.
En: It fit neatly into another lock on the wall around the room.

Ga: Conas a bhí an ghlais chomh maith sin doimhne?
En: How was the lock so deeply placed?

Ga: Le guth comhráite d'éirigh an doras ar thaobh an bhalla.
En: With the sound of gears moving, the door on the side of the wall opened.

Ga: Sa chúinne an tseomra nua fuair siad an t-oidhreacht caillte.
En: In the corner of the new room, they found the lost heirloom.

Ga: Bhí cuma álainn air, soilseach, úrnua.
En: It looked beautiful, shining, brand new.

Ga: Ach ní raibh ach rian amháin eile acu.
En: But there was just one more clue.

Ga: Bhí litir laistigh.
En: There was a letter inside.

Ga: Léigh Aoife í go han-bhog.
En: Aoife read it very softly.

Ga: "A dhaoine na ham seo, tá sé seo, tré Eoghain Mhóir, seachadta daoibhse, chlann oidhreachta.
En: "People of this time, this is, through Eoghan Mór, passed to you, the heritage family.

Ga: Coimeád an t-oidhreacht seo go cúramach agus foscail í gach céad bliain, le céad na gaoithe.
En: Keep this heirloom carefully and open it every hundred years, with the turn of the wind."

Ga: "Bhí Declan agus Aoife fós ar theirseach stairiúla.
En: Declan and Aoife were still on a historic threshold.

Ga: Bhí sí sásta.
En: They were happy.

Ga: Bhí an t-oidhreacht acu arís.
En: They had the heirloom again.

Ga: A dhúnadh ar an aistear seo, d'fhéadfadh siad suí go bródúil sa mbliain 100 eile.
En: Having concluded this journey, they could proudly sit for another hundred years.
