MYSTIC MIXTAPE vol 6 is a journey inside the mind of prolific Chicago-based Katelan Foisy— land magick, art as sorcery and technology as a manifestation portal are just a few of the topics we covered in this lively, engaging talk!

Katelan, whose “big three” are Taurus Sun, Capricorn Moon, Leo Rising, is a multimedia artist, occultist, and writer. Her clients include the Grammy Awards, Madame Zuzu's Teahouse,  and The Smashing Pumpkins. She has been featured in NY Times, Elle magazine, Paper Magazine, GQ Italy and many others—for her work as an artist, curator and occultist.

She is the artist for the Sibyls Oraculum and Hoodoo Tarot with Tayannah McQuillar (published by Inner Traditions) and is currently working on Chaos of the Third Mind with Dr. Vanessa Sinclair. She was called a “Female Jack Kerouac” by Taylor Mead, a “Modern Day Francesca Woodman” by Cynthia von Buhler, and William Patrick Corgan has said, "They used to burn witches like Katelan."

In this episode, Katelan also discusses her use of sigil magic and alchemical symbolism in the backdrops and merchandise she created for Smashing Pumpkins and Billy Corgan’s tours, sharing a mind with Billy when it comes to creative projects, conversing with the spirit of her artworks, NFTs, impostor syndrome, walking between worlds… the list goes on.

Joining us on Episode 5 is Elizabeth aka peopleinmasks, a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in psychology and a love of dark, creepy imagery. We used Liz’s nativity as a jumpoff point for a conversation about psychology & art— and how certain houses, planets and aspects in a birth chart can translate into a specific aesthetic. We delved deep into the Fourth House, touched upon the Moon and embodied creativity, and Venus as an indicator of our personal sense of aesthetics.

Our friend Colin, 1/2 of experimental shoegaze-vaporwave two-piece Queen Mob, joins us for this adventurous exploration of the sensory convergence between visuals and music. Colin, a double Aries (Sun + Rising), talked to us about his creative process as both a musician and a visual artist, his favorite album artworks, his love of hyperpop and the importance of radical authenticity in the age of the Metaverse.
