2 Kings 5-6 present several vignettes in the career of Elisha. Two of these, the healing of Naaman and the blinding of the Syrian army, have to do with the relationship between Israel and Syria. When Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army is healed, he acknowledges the primacy of YHVH as well as his gratitude to Elisha. In a subsequent scene, the whole Syrian army is trying to hunt down and eliminate Elisha.
