Send me a message!!!
4th Day of Lent –By Nancy Grace Joy- We are but DUST
Genesis 2:7
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Genesis 3:19
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
Psalm 103:13-18
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.
Job 1:21
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart.[a]
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”
Ecclesiastes 3:19-20
Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[a]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.
The songwriter, Kerry Livgren, from band KANSAS once said that “the message was out of Ecclesiastes.”
I close my eyes
Only for a moment and the moment’s gone.
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity.
Dust in the wind, All they are is dust in the wind.
End:
Now don’t hang on. Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky.
It slips away, And all your money won’t another minute buy.
Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind.
Dust in the wind, Everything is dust in the wind.
So where is the HOPE?
In confessing our sins and turning to GOD our creator!
Luke 3:3-6 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”
Jesus has come – that is why we celebrate EASTER!!
Lent is a great time of 40 days to get ready for that celebration of HOPE!
1 John 1:8-10 If we confess our sins,
