On Tuesday October 6, 2020, Nigerian youths went out to the streets to protest against police brutality, calling on the government to end the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) notorious for harassing and killing young people. In this episode, I talk about the patriarchy and how women can take up positions of authority in their homes and in the society at large. I round up my talk on gender issues in the meantime, and I hope to talk more about gender in future episodes.

A lot of cultures, like the Igbo culture, for example, do not recognise women as equal to men. More often than not, women are not even considered as humans deserving of recognition. It's why children bear their father's names; why sons are, sometimes the only ones who receive inheritance; why men always have to be above women. But I want women to challenge these practices.
