Natalie Barbu of the Real Reel Podcast | Quitting Her Job And Starting Her Own Consulting Business in Her Early 20s

--

After graduating university with a degree in industrial engineering, Natalie Barbu landed a job at Accenture, a top tier consulting firm. Despite it being a coveted position, she quit within the first year to go full-time on Youtube — a decision she does not regret in the slightest. Natalie was able to earn more money on the platform than she was earning at Accenture, be the boss of her own time and best of all, enjoy the creative freedom that she most values. It wasn’t long after going full-time on Youtube that she started her own LLC, Natalie Barbu Consulting. In this episode, we get into the story behind these major life transitions, the logistics of growing on social platforms such as Instagram and Youtube, the reality of being your own boss and growing your own business and of course, how we can apply Natalie’s knowledge to our own personal and professional choices.

Some points we hit:

--

1. How did Natalie know when it was time to quit her job at Accenture to pursue Youtube full time? How much of a security net should you have before you freelance?

2. What goes into starting your own business in your twenties? What kind of person is the lifestyle cut out for?

3. How do you know if you should work for yourself over finding employment in a corporate environment?

4. What did growth look like for Natalie on Youtube? What do people need to know that are trying to grow their own channels? Is it too saturated to grow on Youtube in 2020?
